Re: 2021 Emilia Romagna (Imola) Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

Unless Hamilton looked quicker and Bottas was clearly holding him up, I don't think they would at this early stage of the season. Toto has shown ruthlessness in the past. It's only 3 points in that example but you'd rather have them in Hamilton's tally at the end of the season rather than Bottas'. ...

Bit of a digression but I've just learned that Lance Stroll holds a lap record here (F3, 2016).
That would be European F3 and not International F3, different cars I believe.

That's what I mentioned above, but in 2007-08 it was obvious he'd ignore RB; Macca have been sponsoring him since his first steps in motor racing, I doubt that he'd turn his back on them after his first year there. 2009-2010 would be more realistic, after seeing that he was treated as a Nr2 and hav...

So we had a 1 hour session shortened to 45 mins because of the crash, then with the need for the cars to be on the track most of the time they were getting in each others way losing close to half of their laps, given I've no interest in aborted laps that's about 25 mins of useful content. Yup - it was pretty obvious to me that whilst Lewis was struggling to close Kimi down from a 2-odd second gap in the dry, once it started to rain / cool, the pendulum swung firmly towards the McLaren over the Ferrari. He would almost certainly have won the race without needing to make his pass wher...

Hamilton had made a commitment to overtake and even an attempt to back out at that point may well have resulted in contact (and possibly two DNFs).
