Re: Silly Season 2022

Yeah, obviously it's a gamble right. Could be one worth taking though. For sure because in qualy at least, the difference between Russel & Latifi is night & day. Especially seeing as Williams is floated on the Stock Exchange. Appearing better increases Williams value. If it's not appearing better w...

Re: Is Ricciardo done?

I mean, yes that's the whole point. Had Ricciardo driven a faster car he wouldn't qualify. But he hasn't. He still would qualify because it's also reliant on both Max and Hamilton messing up which isn't happening. Sure, so as it stands he's never driven a car capable of contending for the champions...

Re: Is Ricciardo done?

I never said title capable I said TITLE CHALLENGING. Which the car factually actually did. Regardless, I made the proposition so I'm setting the parameters for myself in thinking that. I'm happy to have a conversation about it but if you're starting point is so extreme as to deny things that we act...

Re: Is Ricciardo done?

There hasn't really been any path for Ricciardo to ever find himself into a championship challenging seat. No path to Mercedes, or the 17/18 Ferrari. He could have stayed 8 seasons at Red Bull to finally get a championship capable car, but that is pretty unprecedented to be at a team that long that...

Re: Is Ricciardo done?

It's just extreme circumstance that kept Kubica in the game not the quality of the car, on today's grid if you give Ricciardo's present car just 2 tenths more performance then you are perhaps were Kubica was with his car, look at Lando so close to 2 poles already, even with 2 tenths more performanc...

Re: Is Ricciardo done?

Ricciardo had 0 chance at the 2014 WDC. We won 3 races when Mercedes imploded 3 times. Kubica did get a lucky win, but he was on track to win another race when he retired from the lead. With 2 races to go in 2008 he was 12 points off the WDC lead... He relied on the faster cars messing up to have a...

Re: Mercedes vs Red Bull - 2021

Since the beginning of 2019, Verstappen has been making equal or fewer mistakes than Hamilton. If Verstappen is faster than Hamilton, and more/equal in consistency, then at that point, what does Hamilton have left over Verstappen? Is your assumption that Max is faster on something that can't really...

I thought this thread was started because of the shenanigans last time out, Audi are pulling out of the series and then basically crapped all over it. I often forget to watch the races but managed to catch the last race, probably helped because there was no F1 or MotoGP on at the weekend to preoccup...

To be fair to Masi he was new to the job and perhaps finding his feet, I think he is now finding a better way were stewards decisions can be more consistent, with the Austria 2019 incident it was an obvious cop out for political reasons, at the time to find Leclerc partly responsible was ridiculous...

I think Gasly's contract was only for 2021, but with the very obvious caveat that Red Bull will have the option to extend it into 2022 if they wish. Latifi's contract was reported to be three years, so until the end of 2022. But I think it's safe to say that if Williams' new management did feel the...

Depends how much money. How much does a team like Williams gain from going from say 8th to 6th in the WCC? One is a guarantee the other is not, how can you judge that Williams make such good progress with the car, the driver they replace Latifi with is probably going to be worse than Russell who th...

Kubica did have a championship challenge. In the 2008 BMW. Going off on a slight tangent, I recall one specific F1 driver having two contract negotiation issues with Williams back in the 00s.
In this case it had to be paid out by the driver, Button, and not any of the teams involved.

Kubica arguably also never had a credible championship winning car, but his career was cut short. Mercedes quicker in qualifying, the race I can't call it, Max was quick in the sprint but got crashed out in the GP, so:-

Red Bull 13 - 6 Mercedes

This using AMuS GPS data just for the race.
Apparently both Mercedes and Red Bull are agreeing with AMuS so:-

Red Bull 14 - 6 Mercedes
