Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2025 Austrian Grand Prix
I also think that the merit of making the one-stopper work are a bit underestimated. Certainly by Ferrari. Well there was no merit at all for Ferrari. They finish 3rd and 4th either way. In hindsight yes but a red flag or safety car could have brought him on the podium with a one-stopper so I don't...

Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
I think it comes down to what you are looking for in any given sport. I personally much prefer greatness over competition if a choice has to be made between the two. But I am genuinely happy for you and those who enjoy the WDC between Norris and Piastri. We all can't get what we want after all. At ...

Max surely be looking at his options right now. Any credible(?) rumors, yet ? First of all there are so many rumours about what Verstappen's exit clause might be, the latest I heard is Red Bull need to finish top 3 in the WCC by the summer break which surely isn't going to happen, this may also exp...

Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2025 Canadian Grand Prix
They have protested results 2 or 3 times this season after the race, it's clear why Palmer brought up his idea even if he may have pinched it off me. I only remember Canada? I think they also protested Russell not slowing enough under yellow flags/VSC in Miami, IIRC. Yes that went to the stewards a...

Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2025 Canadian Grand Prix
I totally agree. I doubt however that we can find many instances of teams filling a post-race review more than 3 times a season. Truth be told, I haven't kept track. I think Red Bull are on 2/3 not sure which one. It is possible. Whilst Red Bull have been very vocal in de press, the only ones I can...

I think the main ones are Hulkenberg and Lawson. Maybe Alonso too. I think Bortoletto's result is not as good as many are implying. As is often the case, first points and rare decent / good performances can swing the votes a bit. Hulkenberg after a very poor Saturday showed just how good that Saube...

I'm more impressed by what Aron did in F2 now given what Beganovic and Browning are doing in the Hitech car this season, he was battling with Bortoleto and Hadjar and they both seem to be doing quite well in F1.

Do we get the best talent through the ranks? Well, we have Cordeel, Villagomez, and Shields in F2, we have similar examples of drivers who never won anything in F3. I think Red Bull are on 2/3 not sure which one. It is possible. Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
The penalty for ignoring blue flags is the 5 seconds. Colapinto was trying to follow the car in front to get the slipstream. Obviously he didn't no Piastri was there. Stroll on the other hand DID know he was racing Gasly. how can he possibly not know that there was a leader about to lap him? Are we...

Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
That is ridiculous. 5 seconds?? Stroll got 10 for doing basically the same to a driver who decided to drive into a closing gap. Colapinto was literally required to move out of the way, not push the leaders off the track. That should be a drive through IMO. It was dangerous... I think the difference...

Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
I think the difference is quite easily explained... Stroll moved across in an intentional racing move. Colapinto just didn't know Piastri was there. It is just that 5 seconds is basically the most lenient it can be. Drivers ignoring blue flags get much worse than this. He must have known that a lea...

On a longer track yeah. On a track with a lap time of 65 seconds where your constantly in traffic it was always a big ask Norris did it last year to Max, closed down 8 seconds I think after the initial bite went out the tyres, the offset wasn't enough to make much difference between 2 drivers and c...

Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2025 Canadian Grand Prix
Palmer was referring to Red Bull's post-race protest specifically and that the only bar teams have to pass today is a deposit of $2k, which of course for teams isn't very much. So every team gets 3 reviews on any matter (I think) and would most likely keep the review if the team was right to protes...

But as I say, chicken an egg. How can a series "earn it's own level" if it doesn't carry as many ranking points as it's rivals? Better drivers will continue to pick the series offering more ranking points making it impossible for the lower tariff series to compete. I'm hypothesising that if you gav...

Fascinating conversation chaps but should probably be in the Junior/Feeder series thread.... I think an argument could be made to give winter series fewer licence points as most people don't really consider them. With others though I think the same licence points makes sense.
