Re: F1 Gossip/Rumour/Inside news Thread

Mercedes built the Zero Pod concept with full confidence the engineers had a full grasp as to the performance they could expect, but once the drivers went around the track in the car they immediately felt the car was lacking balance and they communicated this to the team, but the engineers assured ...

Re: 2024 Miami Grand Prix Race Thread

I just watched it again, Verstappen actually was losing more time than I thought to Norris. On lap 24 he was 9.5 seconds behind. On SC deployment on lap 28, the gap was 11.5 and it gradually grew every sector. He gained 2.0 seconds in 4 laps. Leclerc also gained 1.2 seconds in those 4 laps on Verst...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?

The starting point to this debate will remain the statement that Ferrari should have won the first 12 out of 13 races. No, that was not the starting point of the debate. The quote I posted from KingVoid is from (near) the top of the previous page. You then listed races Ferrari won or should have wo...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?

Again, the phrase was "as fast as RB" not "faster than RB". I think it's been shown that Ferrari was close enough to RB/Max in 11 or 12 of the first 13 races (exceptions being Imola and perhaps Miami) for that comment to be considered valid. Feel free to offer analysis or your reasoning for believi...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?

Even as a Verstappen fan, I was very encouraged by the pace of McLaren and Ferrari at Miami. The upgraded McLaren in the hands of Norris looked like the fastest car, while Ferrari was at most 1-2 tenths slower. Miami is a circuit that tests every quality of a car. Top speed, mechanical grip, brakin...

I'm dealing with the Ferrari being faster in 12 out of 13 races not with the Ferrari was faster overall, I believe you've confirmed that there was races Ferrari could not have won because it was not fast enough. I excluded the four races Ferrari actually won (Bahrain, Australia, Austria, and Silverstone) because I didn't think I'd need to illustrate how they could have won those races when they already did so. I think the point was, factoring out reliability (as mikey said, which isn't insignificant), ther...

True, Max had just gotten to the front and looked to be on his way to a victory when he got a piece of carbon stuck in his floor. There was a late SC that bunched up the field, who knows what would have happened. If you want to say Ferrari wasn't as fast as RB at Silverstone (a race that they start...

Still a lot of season to turn it round, and he is going to have to stay in F1 with the F1 driver merry go round of 2025. Tsunoda is making a good case for staying. Really not a fan of the fact that despite winning the Miami GP Norris didn't leave the weekend as the driver who scored the most points.

It feels wrong.
It is wrong the sprint dilutes the main event.
