Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)
LOL...ok...Let's just ignore the most dominant car and team ever seen in F1 history... That is actually the difference: the Schumacher brigade thinks that already the discussion is not justified. It shows how far the fanatism goes ... Kindly explain to me why Hamilton still doesn’t have a contract ...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)
Nice to see Brits in a British board trying to justify a British driver to be superior than a German driver....very surprising Well Hamilton does have very impressive accomplishments which are in the same bracket as Schumacher's, so it seems like a reasonable debate to have. LOL...ok...Let's just i...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)
I get the impression that Hamilton is perhaps less ruthless than Schumacher was. I think he embraces the competition and is fairly comfortable working in a transparent environment and accepting that his team mates are closer to him, but also therefore both drivers and the team as a whole is more co...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)
Can you imagine Schumacher would allow such a detailed debrief to be given to the likes of Irvine, Barrichello or Massa? Hamilton's willingness to be open strengthens the teammates that are willing and able to learn from him. I don't think Hamilton had anything to do with that, and I highly doubt h...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)
Just of them was his own fault. That cost him the win. Certainly without that he would have be leading the WDC. How, where's the evidence? I've done some maths and think I worked it out. After six rounds (Monaco), if you take the position that Schumacher was in when he retired and give him the win ...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)
Unreliability in 2012. Had he collected the points in the positions he retired in, he'd have been leading the 2012 WDC by the time they arrived Canada. I know he had unreliability but you still need to run that past me, retiring from a couple of third places doesn't quite do it for me, he was never...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)
My opinion on this is very clear The grid from 2014-2020 was more talented than in Schumacher’s time, but that is completely meaningless because all the best drivers from 2014-2020 were stuck in hugely inferior machinery. Say what you want about Hill, Villeneuve and Hakkinen - they all had a fair s...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)
Once again, these statistics really don't mean anything without context. Especially given how you include Schumacher's Mercedes years in that statistic. The most accurate measure of driver performance is that relative to their peers. Schumacher, excluding his rookie years, was probably only matched...

Re: The Official Sir Lewis Hamilton thread
I give credit to Hakkinen but then again he won 2 titles against Schumacher allbeit he seemingly needed the car to do it, I think we might place Hakkinen at a similar level to Vettel. Actually Hakkinen is more comparable to Lewis, both extremely fast in ultimate pace and qualifying,, both loved by ...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)
Is this statement for or against Hamilton? Because all it states is that more drivers have won a WDC competing against Hamilton than that of Schumacher. And that's despite the fact Schumacher had seasons where he was either in evidently inferior cars, or had other issues such as injuries. This thre...

Re: Which drivers will we see full-time in F1 again?
Albon has the best chance but I would rate it as no better than 50/50 so I didn't vote, apparently Red Bull are going to run a DTM team were they are going to match up Albon against Liam Lawson, I'm not sure what this means for Lawson's single seater career, maybe he's going to dovetail this with F2...

I've been keeping track of the voting and with Hamilton and Verstappen it was very easy to see how the votes went with the majority having them in the top 2, so after 30 votes it went like this:- 1. Hamilton 1.21 (24x1st, 6x2nd) 2. Verstappen 2.07 (5x1st, 18x2nd, 7x3rd) Leclerc managed to bag 1x1st...

Re: Who ruined Williams?
So wen do you feel the decline actually started? They were 3rd in the WCC in '14-'15 which seems a long time ago now. Since winning in '97 they had been a bit up and down but were 2nd in '02 and '03. So in terms of a continuing decline I guess you have to go from '16 but their points haul has been ...

Hamilton has done the majority of his winning in an era that was even weaker than those days. I've stayed out of this for the most part as the arguments are all over the place, but to pokerman's point it seems like some are asking whether driver's from Hamilton's Mercedes era (who had a car capable of competing for the title) are stronger than the best drivers who competed against Schumache...

Who was the best driver to debut between 1993-1999... this must be the worst period of talent arriving in the sport. Thinking out loud here, but are the races postponed due to issues over current Covid levels and teams flying in and out of the country, or are the organisers hoping that dates later in the year will enable fans in and therefore lots more money? I don't think anybody really believes Barrichello was at the same level as Alonso throughout his career, but he was one of the fastest guys on the grid in the late 90's - for me he would today be on the same level as a Button/Ricciardo/Sainz, where he is fast enough to challenge the elites, but not...
