To me personally it boils down to three(main) reasons.

Engines, F1 has never been particularly road relevant. F1 cars should be roaring fire breathing monsters. Does anybody think that Drag Race buffs think engines are irrelevant?

Cut every Race down to 260 km, problem solved. Then they can increase fuel flow without redesigning the cars. Do F1 fans really want to see shorter races? It won't be that much shorter. If they had so little fuel that in order to run at 15000 rpm they would have to cut the race distance by 25% or m...

These watered down pc engines are nothing like the old V6 monsters. If they upped the rev limit to 16000 and increased max fuel and fuel flow by let's say 10-15% they could still pretend to be green and we'd get a slightly better show.
