Re: Who will win the Championships?

Nothing has changed. Normal service will resume in Hungary. Max still has the faster car. C1 favored Merc and not many tracks are left. Merc had a hard time against Ferrari on C2!

Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

Racing incident. However, we all know that Max is an elbows out racer, toes the fine line more often than not. Lewis typically backs down to live another day. Leclerc is the one we saw who played with Max in his style and they have been involved in incidents like this. I think with the WDC this clos...

Re: Uncharacteristic errors from Hamilton and Verstappen

I dont know, man. It is all subjective. There are 14 more races to go and I am sure with each passing race the Red Bull will be similar to what we saw in Austria. At the end of the season it will look pretty lopsided. Red Bull brought their upgrades and just unleashed the true potential of the car. ...

Re: Uncharacteristic errors from Hamilton and Verstappen

I have been reading the forum for a long time. One thing I find amusing is Hamilton/Verstappen fans slinging mud and calling the other out for being bias but being unable to see their own bias. Especially Verstappen fans this season trying their hardest to downplay the car advantage which it's been...

Re: Mercedes vs Red Bull - 2021

I think its both. Two factors going hand in hand. Merc became complacent after seeing their 2020 car, thinking that should be enough for the 2021 run as well. With the floor and brake changes they realized that line of thought wont work, but by then it was too late. However, changing the 2021 car to...

Re: Mercedes vs Red Bull - 2021

This is pretty much set in stone now. There is a vast gap between the Red Bull and the Merc. Looking back, LH should consider himself lucky that the gap in 32 points. It could easily have been more than that. If not for Max running wide in Bahrain he would have got LH. His qualifying gaffs lost him ...

If we are debating which is the better car then we should not include mistakes or bad lucks. Without Max's tyre blowout, LH's accidental switch doesnt happen.

Re: Mercedes vs Red Bull - 2021

Honest question - how is RB doing all these upgrades? Toto is saying that Merc will not upgrade much this year due to cap focus on next year. Does that mean that RB will have less money to spend next year?

Re: Will Mercedes bring any meaningful upgrades in 2021?

I voted No - It is too late to catch Red Bull. I dont think any upgrades in aero or something similar can make up for the lack of raw pace they have compared to the Red Bulls. In today's F1 if you cannot catch the car in front of you on the straights then it is very unlikely that you are getting pas...

Re: Mercedes vs Red Bull - 2021

At this point it may be fair to assume that Red Bulls are better than the Mercs. They may have started the season on the back foot, but made good developments to get to this point. The question is whether Mercs fight back and try to get better or even reduce the gap, or are content with what they h...

Re: 2021 Styrian Grand Prix Race Thread

I was expecting more from DR. DR has been very disappointing so far. Only thing Norris didnt do was to wave Bottas good bye as Bottas was passing him. At least Norris finished fifth. Mercedes got their lunch handed to them by Red Bulls. It was not even close, and I believe this is going to be the th...

At the end of the day - the people arguing that Merc were stronger last weekend...have said countless times that you are better to have a car that can qualify on pole and is faster in a straight line. Shame that Lewis went wide. If not his lap would have been faster than his "invalid" lap.

Very happy to see DR in purple in the first sector. Keeping my fingers crossed for a Mclaren podium this weekend.

Re: 2021 Styrian Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

Max will get the pole and the win. The Red Bull is much better than the Mercs. Maybe, Mercs are rueing their decision to halt this year's car development and focus on next year. I will be surprised if Hamilton wins another race from this point on. The Red Bull has a faster straight line speed, which...

Re: Mercedes vs Red Bull - 2021

Probably depends on how much they want to cater to Lewis Hamilton. He is not getting younger, and it seems like the age is catching up on him. Maybe, one more year after this is his best chance to get #8.

Re: Who will win the Championships?

Anyone changed their mind after this weekend? I think Red Bull’s pace this weekend has surprised a lot of people. I said Max and Red Bull, and today's race solidified my opinion. WCC is all but done at this point. Regarding WDC, I think the Red Bull package (Max + RB + Pit crew/ strategy) is better...

I was watching the live gap between Hamilton and Verstappen like a hawk. Just before Hamilton dove into the pits, the live gap between him and Verstappen was 24.3 seconds. Re: 2021 French Grand Prix Race Thread

Who knows. It's hard to stay in the dirty air. Either way it was a key error from Hamilton. If hed lost a couple of second id agree, but he lost maybe barely .5 of a second. In turn 12 (?) with some I don't know 10 laps to go, it was a replay he went off track. In time gap it was a drop of 0.5-0.7 sec. Well I can't criticise Bottas, Hamilton was even easier to pass he didn't even try to defend, total strategy fail from Mercedes which lost then the race, pitting Bottas before Hamilton was a total fail. Not sure what to make of FP2, which typically gives us a good indication on how the drivers and cars are set for the race. Max was faster, but that fast lap was as perfect as you can get. Meanwhile, on LH's fast lap he rode the kerbs, which may have cost him some time. I would actually favor Max and...

Re: When did the modern champions decline?

Today's athletes have more longevity than the older ones, I would say even compared to the athletes of 2000s. Diet and training is much different than what it used to be 10-15 years back. That being said, I think the average age a F1 driver may start declining today is once he crosses 35. Hamilton m...

When you think about it, the competitive order has been decided by tyres moreso than anything else. There are three tyre ranges that Pirelli can bring to any given GP. The hardest possible range, the softest possible range, and the middle range. C1 to C3 = used in Portugal and Spain, Mercedes clear...
