Re: The Official George Russell Thread
Memories of Schumacher storming into the Mclaren pit after Coulthard took him off at a wet Spa one year. Schumacher should have been banned for life. Not for the pit lane willy waving, but for what he did on the track after the collision with DC. He continued on track on three wheels, a hundred mph...

Re: Ferrari vs. Red Bull - 2022
I think the Ferrari is the marginally better car overall, but there's not much in it. Whether they beat the Bulls over the whole season depends largely on which team gets the most consistent performance from both drivers. If they're smart, both teams will already have told their drivers who's #1 and...

Re: Who will end their career with the most wins?
I don't think anyone will ever surpass Hamilton, simply because no team will ever again be allowed to dominate for the length of time that Merc has. The powers that be say they want closer competition, and if they're sincere in that then they're going to achieve it long before Verstappen or anyone e...

I voted A.N. Other
If Ferrari and Red Bull dominate for the next few years, the next British WDC may be someone who's not even in F1 yet. If I were a betting man I don't think I'd get good odds on any of the current Brits, but I might get a good price on Olli Caldwell.

Re: How successful will each young driver be?
As for Stroll, my prediction that he will win 6 races is less based on his skill and more based on the fact that his father will eventually get him a top car. Having the best car is no guarantee. Remember Kovalainen? He had a great car in 2008. His team mate won the championship, whereas he scored ...

Russell's physique might also be a contributing factor. He's considrably taller than Hamilton and lying quite flat in the car presumably puts more leverage on his spine.

The teams suffering the most from bouncing are the teams that have relied most heavily on the wind tunnel. Schoolboy error! The wind tunnel only tells you how the car moves through the air - it doesn't tell you how the road moves under the car. And if that comment doesn't seem to make sense, all mot...

Thank God the porpoising doesn't occur whilst in the middle of fast corners . It does. That's why they took out one of the DRS zones in Melbourne. A potentially bigger problem than porpoising in fast turns is fast turns on bumpy tracks. I think Spa is going to be a total nightmare and possibly Inte...

When the ground effect is working properly it becomes a power formula, and that's always going to be Ferrari. If all the cars were driven by identical robots, Ferrari would 1-2 every race.

I wouldn't blame Hamilton for losing motivation after what happened last season. I believe he would have retired at the end of last season when he should have won his 8th. Many people have tried to make comparisons to other sports on how last season ended and you would need to go to stupid lengths ...

For me it was between Norris and Russell. Russell gets the nod for finishing a million light years ahead of his team mate and fended off an uncharacteristically competent Bottas. Norris also wiped the floor with his team mate, but a lot of that was of Ricciardo's own making so difficult to say how m...

Re: Will the new FIA driving guidelines curb Max and should he have been punished more for 2021?
There's no need for "guidelines", you just need rules that are the same for everyone, at every race, at every corner, on every lap. "Guidelines" means the exact opposite of that... it means the rules are optional, and that's precisely why last year was such a farce - and I don't just mean the final ...

I think it's fine the way it is. If there's too much of a points spread between positions what you end up with is a medal table... who's got the most wins? if that's a tie, who's got the most P2s etc etc and before the season is half done the final positions are pretty much established. Having a tig...

I like what I've seen from the new cars. It was clear from the very first lap that following is much easier. Bahrain has always been decent for wheel to wheel racing due to the slow corners and long back to back straights, but it was clear they could follow much better through the long fast corners...

I'm not willing to pass judgement yet. [Mercedes] need to go back to their old sidepods. They already have the parts. That would be the fastest fix. I don't think the sidepods are the problem per se. The car is still porpoising badly. All the other teams have managed to dial most of that out, so they'll figure it out soon enough. When t...

Yes, but Hamilton's been moaning about the tyres, which everyone knows is code for "Everything's working perfectly". Merc are notorious sandbaggers and I don't think the other teams will read too much into their performance until Quali starts.

I doubt Perez will be allowed to challenge Verstappen. I'm in two minds about which tyre I prefer on an aesthetic level, but the technical issue for the teams is the changes they will have had to make to the suspension. A lot of the cars' vertical movement comes from the tyres and they won't be able to continue that to the same degree with the LP tyres....
