Re: Saving F1
The efficiency of the ICE is notoriously low - because of the inherent thermodynamic limits of the Otto cycle. A site (that may be biased - https://insideevs.com/features/392202/ice-vs-ev-inefficient-combustion-engine/) cites the following efficiencies. Even if off by a substantial amount, they're p...

Like I said just laziness, let the sensors do the work regardless of whether they are doing the job properly. Well, it eliminates the human factor. No system or person is infallible and having both in place will lead to protests. Imagine the sensor indicating movement, but not visible on the camera...

In a situation like this why not just allow all the drivers past the stricken car to complete their laps before throwing the red flag? One word, safety. What would be unsafe about it? The drivers already passed him have a clear track and those that don't will have to back off and go slow. Yeah, "sa...

This is really sad. I finished watching SA 2024 FP2 a bit ago in the US - Sky broadcast carried by ESPN in the US. Immediately afterwards, the next show came on and opined thusly. I feel like it depends on the quality of racing. I much preferred 2019 - 2020 to 2014 - 2016 for example. Purely because the racing was so much better. Excellent response. The real answer of course is "it depends." T he reality is that the majority of seasons are not incredible exciting from a spor...

For those with sufficient interest, would it make sense for some interested members to import some various forms of F1 data from a Wikipedia data set (which seems to not exist) or from some other dataset? I am talking about racing where a car dominates everything, you talk about a team-ball- game where one athlete excels. Two different worlds, really. Apart from that, it is subjective what I enjoy or not. ;) I consider race car engineering to be every bit as much a part of F1 competition as the driv...

I agree though, if Red Bull are dominant in the first third of the season, I expect there to be some regulation changes for 2025 to try and cut the advantage. They've won 32 of the last 34 races. We seem to be discussing (and conflating) two different variables here - and it often leads to confusion. One variable is age from a basic (non-experiential) musculature and neurologic point of view. I get the feeling that F1 is just a marketing exercise for Haas and with F1 increasing in value year on year he's unlikely to sell any time soon, a team with no ambition and that looks like the sword on which Steiner has fallen, he foolishly thought they were there to compete.
