Re: Most disappointing driver of 2021

Ricciardo is still living off the hype of 2014 when he beat Vettel. The following year Kvyat beat him. The same Kvyat that didn't have enough mental toughness to survive Red Bull's corporate politics and was psychologically buried over 2016 and 2017. It's not hype if he actually achieved something....

Hamilton accidentally knocked brake magic on the upshift at the start. Still a driver error but a little excuse.

Don't think there has ever been a driver luckier than Lewis Hamilton in the history of the sport. Weird that when Lady Luck has deserted him it cost him three titles. Beaching it in the gravel counts as luck? Shame there wasn't a crane nearby. Or are we talking about Glock letting him by on the fin...

The architechture surrounding the Baku track is beautiful. It reminds me of Istanbul city.

The whole track has a Gran Turismo game vibe to it.

Sainz stepping up big time.

Vettel finally making a big (mental) step.

Hamilton imploding, as usual, when the walls close in.

Verstappen flawless.

Alonso WTF?

Re: Monaco 2021 - Qualifier of the Day

Sainz, Bottas, & Norris. It's a real shame that we didn't get to see what the last round of fast laps would have produced. Leclerc was obviously fast all weekend so far but he is also the one who brought out the red flag at the height of Q3. Leclerc often out performs the car during qualifying only...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

Its pretty clear Schumacher jumped to avoid a head to head with Raikkonen, ironic because Schumacher would have thrashed Raikkonen in 2007 and 2008 but everybody thought Kimi was something super special over 2003-2005. Michael painted this as he retired to "save Massa's seat" and yes they were frie...

Re: Is Vettel at Aston Martin starting to look like Mansell at Mclaren in 95?

Some ex F1 driver or journalist said Vettel was hired to make Lance look good. Then implies Vettel is completely shot, which at the age of 33 I really doubt. His style is sensitive but I see it changing in his favour slowly already. We'll see where they are in Monaco but I expect Vettel to be comfo...

I suspect that it is also a combination of Vettel underperforming the last few years and Stroll being possibly a bit less sh*t that everyone thought! I see an awful lot of Massa in Stroll. For Massa, beating Villeneuve was the making of him even if he went on to be beaten by nearly all his teammate...

Well, another race, another underwhelming result. It's a long season so plenty of time I guess, but conspiracy theories aside, I wasn't expecting wins, but I was expecting him to have the measure of Stroll and it would be hard to argue that's happened so far. This track is really not needed. Drivers were finding it hard to even pass with DRS. And what benefit did turn 10 deliver? It's a very boring track. I can't remember the last time there was an exciting race here. Maybe 2016? It could all change with next gen cars (hopefully). From a driving POV the...

Re: Is Vettel at Aston Martin starting to look like Mansell at Mclaren in 95?

Today we saw how far behind the Aston really is. This is a result of the team failing to fully understand their copy and paste car. They never developed it so how can they understand it? This is the result of their hubris. IMO their worst mistake was redesigning the chassis. The 2019 chassis (Merc c...

If nothing else comes from this last year or so, we need to keep this circuit on the calendar. I thought it was pretty boring to be honest. Bottas is perceived as not making mistakes because he doesn't attempt any moves. Yes, it's pretty easy to not get involved in incidence if you never try and pass anyone or never put up any resistance to anyone trying to overtake you. Vettel raced pretty well at Imola and his lap times weren't that bad. He's still slightly off Stroll but then again he was much further back down the grid too. I'm guessing the confidence is coming back by each race. Stroll performs well when the pressure is off him and then goes missing once people...

Not too much to disagree with there, I might put Ricciardo nearer to Alonso and I think Russell will end up higher than his present position, Vettel's position would indicate that he's lost about 0.1s in the last couple of years, an indication of decline perhaps. Ricciardo has proven to be a very d...
