Re: Anyone believe Ferrari signed Hamilton because Charles is a disappointment?

Well I spoke with her last night and said the general consensus here was that it's not the case. She says you're all idiots  I think it was just too good an opportunity to pass up. Has anyone read anything reliable that suggests who approached who?

Re: Anyone believe Ferrari signed Hamilton because Charles is a disappointment?

Are we being influenced by the last 4 races here, before the season started I was reading things like Leclerc would dig a grave for Hamilton while Sainz had been looking slower than Leclerc season after season, why not this thread before the season started? slower (or at least "not as quick") maybe...

Re: Anyone believe Ferrari signed Hamilton because Charles is a disappointment?

Her question to me was do you think Ferrari would have made the same move to me, for the same cost in say Charles 2nd year with them? I don't know. I think it was just too good to pass up.

Anyone believe Ferrari signed Hamilton because Charles is a disappointment?

I'm not so sure but a friend is convinced that Ferrari put all their belief in Leclerc, convinced he was there potential Hamilton/Verstappen beater. He is good but overall it could be viewed that he hasn't quite delivered on his promise. So anyone think that Hamilton being signed is Ferrari giving u...

problem is even if he did it would be too late for the '25 car so the Alonso/Newey dream team would be for 26 - Alonso's 2nd and surely last year.

With Nando now confirmed, next key piece of jigsaw is Max. Assuming he confirms at RBR , that's Toto's No 1 choice gone and it's musical chair time.

Also guessing that Stroll Snr will be sending Newey a pic of an open cheque-book.....

Re: Who will end their career with the most wins?

having paused in cosmic reflection, I think the chart works "as is". Schumacher was the quickest to the win counts and shows at the bottom. If the chart was showing laptimes and the Y axes was laptime and the X axis was Lap Number (and would of course be labelled as such), the quicker driver would h...

"heat bars" show that really Schumacher was hitting those markers quicker than anyone else has managed, and have to be honest that suprised me, I thought Vettel had it.

Re: Who will end their career with the most wins?

Amazing really that when this thread started Verstappen wasn't even on the list! 100 wins is definitely on. Anyone got stats on how quickly the 30+ wins drivers got to each 10 win marker after their first race? As in time from win 1 to 10, then 1-20 , 1-30 etc? Max now on 57 must surely have hit tho...

Re: Who will end their career with the most wins?

Thought I'd give this one a bump. I've made a change to the calculation by using an estimated number of seasons left per driver. Impossible to predict but for clarity I've gone with Driver (Seasons/Age) Alonso - 1/44 Bottas - 0/35 Gasly - 7/35 Hamilton - 2/41 Leclerc - 8/35 Ocon - 7/35 Perez - 0/34 ...

I would argue about the level of decline based on just 3 races, let's face it if Hamilton was beating Russell we wouldn't be having this conversation. :) I mean, that's a pretty obvious statement. I think it's easy to forget that until the last round of '23 Sainz was on to beat Leclerc but dropped from 4th to 7th or something and behind Charles. I agree with the general thinking that Leclerc can probably post a quicker lap, but over a race, over a season, there isn't much in it.
