Re: How fast is Verstappen relative to Hamilton? (THREAD SPLIT)

It's an interesting point. I don't think he is as complete as Hamilton who at this point has virtually no weak areas. But in terms of outright speed I think Verstappen is there with him. I think if they were teammates it would be a mighty tussle and neither would accept losing. I have a feeling that...

Re: Official Valtteri Bottas Thread

I think Verstappen would have won the WDC. I've been consistent in saying Ferrari had the car to win in those years and failed to deliver. As for Leclerc, it depends on how he would have taken to the role of leading the championship. If his frequent errors are the result of overdriving while trying...

I'm not too familiar with European branding. Here in the US, I am very familiar with Renault, but much less so with Alpine. As the saying goes, "Race on Sunday, sell on Monday." My 30-year product management career tells me that Renault relies on its Renault car sales for its profits, with speciali...

Just caught Misano. What a strange season. New winners is good, but their wins are leaving a strangely empty feeling for me, not sure why. So let's say they design cars "so they can overtake". OK but to pass another car you still have to be travelling faster than the car you are passing. I think the nails are already in, it's a question of whether next year he can stop being buried alive.

I don't think he can unless the Aston is a race winner and he starts going to toe to toe with Hamilton and wins out. Beating Stroll won't be enough, however big the margin.

Honestly though I'd like to see how a reverse grid would pan out, I've thought for a while now that 2 things are grossly over-looked. 1) Circuit Design: We know that with the right design, even modern cars CAN pass. I am one who thinks Stroll is very under rated. IMO, this season he has shown that he is at least decent now and sometimes can be very solid. Given he's got the money behind him, that more than justifies the reason for him being here. And at the decent level he's now at, I think he's good enough to...

If you think the pile-up of cars on the last corner during qualification is silly (jockeying to see who gets a tow, etc.) then this is just a hint of what will happen with reverse grids.
