I'm cynical Dolo Many other international talent competitions in other fields pressurise competitors to sign management contracts which not only bind them to pay a percentage of future income but also give 'control' of career path, sometimes for many years. Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)
I do think people are over using Russells race to undermine Hamiltons position. Russell had an absolute belter, make no mistake, BUT it was one race. Bottas has on occasion beaten Hamilton over a race. To suggest that Russell is a potential Hamilton replacement we would need to know that he could do...

So wen do you feel the decline actually started? They were 3rd in the WCC in '14-'15 which seems a long time ago now. Since winning in '97 they had been a bit up and down but were 2nd in '02 and '03. So in terms of a continuing decline I guess you have to go from '16 but their points haul has been o...

I wouldn't single out an individual but I do wonder what people think the key events and decisions are that led to their downfall. Would be interesting to plot their WCC position against these events. Perhaps plot out by year their Engine, driver, line-up, Management, Aero Designer, and WCC position...

Re: 2021 - Exciting lineup & intra-team battles!
There's some interesting battles ahead for sure. Mercedes - Bottas 3.0, 4.0, 4.1 - they're all the same. Meh. Red Bull , well Perez will annoy Verstappen on occasion and do a good job for the team, but it will still ultimately go to the golden boy. Then things get more interesting. Renault: Alonso s...

Just saw the news on Sidorkova. It's a good step as she's done national F4 but has also dipped into Rally and tin-tops. She did Spanish F4 in 2019 along with other W series drivers Nerea Marti and Belen Garcia. Between them they pretty much filled the bottom of the table.

Possibly Piquet? Even Mansell won again despite never having a full time F1 drive after 1992. Thank to the distr...

Re: Most underrated driver 2000-2020
I see the Montoya/Ralf comparisons a lot like the Kubica/Heidfeld comparison. People say A was overrated because he only narrowly beat B, when I'd argue B was underrated because he came very close to A. That's interesting. I rate Montoya pretty high so I certainly think that fact that Ralf was clos...

I'm looking at it as Hamilton has the seat, they just havent agreed terms. I don't know how much Russell's run will affect discussions, Toto has said its irrelevant. I voted for Ralf -- not because I think he's the best on that list, but because I think he's frequently written off as a useless scrub, which was definitely not the case. Definitely. Re: Most underrated driver 2000-2020
Thanks for the responses. Some names I expected, some I didn't. There's a definite split of names who had a full career in F1 and didn't make the mark people felt they could have done, and drivers whose career's were too short and deserved more time. In that respect my votes go to Heidfeld in the fi...
