Re: 2024 Junior Series
Finally caught up on F3 - watched final race last night. Wow. Couldn't have written it could you. But.... surely you have to look at the series format when wins are distributed Rank Driver Sprint Wins Feature Wins 1 Leonardo Fornaroli 2 Gabriele Minì 1 3 Luke Browning 2 4 Arvid Lindblad 2 2 5 C...

The Official Liam Lawson Thread
So as he is on the grid for the remainder of this season at least, what can we expect?
Just a reminder of how he stacked up against Yuki first time around it was 2-1 ahead when both finished and av fin was 12.2 to 14.0 in Lawsons favour.

Re: Red Bull/RBs 2025 drivers will be...
RBR have Iwasa, Hadjar, Marti and Goethe, Lindblad, Tramnitz plus Deligny and a couple of F4 drivers.
Lindblad has been consistently impressive, Hadjar has his moments as did Iwasa, but I don't see the "next" Piastri/Norris etc

Re: Red Bull/RBs 2025 drivers will be...
I have no idea. I can't believe they can keep Perez, but as it stands there isn't an obvious successor. Some reports are suggesting that the remaining races for Tsunoda/Lawson are effectively a shoot out for the '25 RBR seat. Tsunoda has definitely now got some consistency to go with his speed, and ...

Re: The Official Daniel Ricciardo Thread
Yeah, there were a few occasions DR said something along the lines of "it's my time" and I'm not sure it ever actually was. We had Vettels time, Hamiltons time and it very quickly became Verstappens time. And of course it's *always* Alonso's time.

A place to say your farewells then. As a character he will definitely be missed, but as a driver it feels like he has been missing for a while already.

These drivers are financially supported by F1 for no other reason than being a woman, meanwhile on the ITV coverage of British F4 on ITV, Deagan Fairclough who has just won a F4 champion unlike the F1 Academy drivers is thanking his family for working hard to pay for his F4 drive. There is a massiv...

So where are you at on sweargate? Let the drivers show their emotions? Delay and bleep? They have a responsibility - keep it in check Personally, I think bleep. I think the in-car stuff is inevitable in the heat of the moment. Sat in a press conference though you have time to choose your words and s...

Re: Female Racing Drivers
Actually I see what you mean about the grid... quick check suggests that only Block, Chambers, Hausmann and Nobels could return. The rest will be either too old, have already done 2 seasons or will be promoted. Block has been great - really impressed by her. I could see Lloyd joining full time, alon...

Re: Female Racing Drivers
I don't think, assuming the series survives, that it will struggle to fill the grid. The bigger issue as time goes on will be the evident lack of "success" of the drivers who progress into the conventional feeder series and sink. And that's always been the issue. As with it's predecessor it can surv...

Re: The Official Oscar Piastri Thread
The lead drivers clearly do not push for the best time in Q1 and Q2. That's where you went wrong. I have never seen somebody compare Q1 and Q2 times for drivers that always make Q3. That is for a good reason. The only drivers pushing hard in Q2 are the drivers that usually go out in Q2. What your s...

Re: The Official Oscar Piastri Thread
Piastri is shaping up to be an interesting driver. He has all the intangibles in spades: he's a team player when he needs to be, but knows when and how to look out for himself; he's a good starter, and his racecraft is right on that razor edge of aggression without getting into incidents. But does ...

IMO, Perez was overrated before his RB stint because some outstanding drives (some of them truly outstanding, some of them getting lucky with alternative strategies) overshadowed the much weaker standard of his performances. He never was more than an inconsistent midfielder. tend to agree tbh. Thos...

Verstappen. Norris has to outscore Verstappen by 8 pts/weekend for the remaining events. For the last 5 races he has only averaged less than 4 pts more than Max (17 vs 13) so I don't see it happening, even allowing for the Sprints. On his current form (5 races again) Norris with an avg finish of P3 ...

Thanks EPROM. Hard to know what to treat as anomalies when you think about the data we are dealing with. The number will only ever be 1-22 or thereabouts so we won't get real outliers. A very interesting analysis. Sainz is a bit of an odd one, falling short of the very best, but only by a small margin and can match anyone on his day. Perhaps Button-level is the closest comparison I can think of over the past 20 years or so. Going back further Jean Alesi comes to mind. Nico Rosber...

Re: Ricciardo Vs Teammates
We've seen it with other drivers like Kimi and Vettel, in the ever changing cars of F1 is it just lack of adaptability coupled to aging? I think it has to be. Assuming the driver is a relative constant, then its the car and teammate that change. And I do wonder if scenarios like these back up the i...

Agreed on all that Exed. In 30 years of watching the sport I can't think of anything similar. On the RIC/KVY though, I agree Ricciardo appears to be the better driver but whilst numbers can mislead, they don't lie. It's worth going and having a look, it was very close between them and DNF's don't af...

Re: Max vs Teammates
Ricciardo is indeed a very difficult driver to place. My personal take is that the 2014-2021 regulations suited him very well, and he was a legitimate tier 1.5 driver during that era. At the end, he obviously didn't gel very quickly with the McLaren car, but it was really how he went downhill in hi...

Re: Should McLaren have swapped Piastri/Norris?
I think it's a lesson learned for both Norris and McLaren. I do wonder if they had a "hold station off the start and first corner" instruction so Piastri figured 2nd corner was fair go! Either way, as Rosberg pointed out, if the team has clear expectations, give clear, direct instructions. Just sayi...

So torn on this. I know Norris is in contention for the WDC and with the big cushion Max has, Norris needs every point he can get. So on that basis, Yes. But.... There are still 232 points available if my maths are right and Piastri did everything right to get himself where he was. So on that basis ...
