Hulk to Lotus now unlikely.
Hulk himself has said it's unlikely he'll be at Lotus next season. What a shame but hopefully he can get that Force India drive now with a possible Ferrari drive in the future. Can't believe he's been overlooked by every top team, since they all (Except Merc) have at least one different driver next ...

Re: Ten into nine doesn't go - so who will?
Is Pic confirmed for 2014? Multi-year deal does not mean much in modern F1. Caterham have an option on him, but they might not take him up on it. So his seat is far from certain. He's been kind of anonymous in F1 anyway so I wouldn't miss him. At least Bianchi has stood out for being good, Chilton ...

Re: Magnussen confirmed for Maclaren seat!
If he does actually sign for McLaren, that's very very bad news for Nico Huelkenberg. It would leave Pastor Maldonado with a wedge of cash looking for a seat, Checo Perez with talent and a wedge of cash, and Nico being a few inches too tall. I can't see Perez going to Lotus. It'll be either Hulk or...

Re: What next for Perez?
People want Hulk to move up because he's overperformed in the machinery he was given. That's how F1 works. Since a driver can't overperform, I assume it is also not how F1 works. ;) Hulkenberg exceeded expectations, which is great to see. Perez hasn't, but then, neither Button nor Hamilton did. My ...

i dont see why McLaren are trying to get rid of him, he's a young driver, he wasn't actually bad and especially recently he's been improving a lot Is it perhaps because Button doesn't like him? we know how tight him and whitmarsh are... just throwing it out there Button publicly stated that he want...

Re: What next for Perez?
Every single rumour now is pointing to Magnussen getting the McLaren drive, and rightly so. Perez, whilst he has shown some potential, is not consistent enough for a McLaren drive. This is the same reason why Massa is getting the axe at Ferrari. Teams need consistency and not the occasional good per...

Re: Magnussen linked to McLaren seat
I read yesterday that Magnussen was offered the Toro Rosso seat but McLaren advised him to turn it down. Make of that what you will. That was Vandoorne, and it was Vandoorne's manager that advised him to turn the seat down. I hope Magnussen gets the drive. Perez has been too inconsistent for a top ...

I really can't believe the short memories of this forum! 2 races ago Di Resta was being lambasted for throwing it into the wall at every opportunity; now he's finished ahead of Sutil a couple of times (by narrow margins each time) he's suddenly the best thing since sliced bread and Sutil is useless...

So according to Quantum themselves, their side of the deal is done and we should expect an announcement by Tuesday. Hopefully this means Hulk will finally get a top drive that he deserves. There's hope yet.

Kovalainen is apparently a good development driver with good feedback. Useful for next year and he's not exactly slow. I reckon he'll get one of the seats with the other going to a pay driver. Petrov is believed to be talking to Sauber. Makes sense. Good for the sponsors too. He could even take Siro...

Maldonado to Lotus is a done deal according to @CroftyF1. I thought that too, but I think the reality is both Hulk and Mal both have a contract with Lotus written out. The only thing left missing is a signature so the day the quantum deal is done Hulk's contract can be signed and that's it, but if ...

Re: Mallya hints he does not want Hulk in FI
Vijay has always said he wouldn't stop drivers from leaving. He said it about Di Resta when he was looking to move up the grid. This quote doesn't mean anything and Vijay/FI would hire Hulk in an instant at the expense of Paul if Hulk doesn't get a top drive. He cannot ignore talent.

Re: Would McLaren Consider Massa Instead Of Perez?
If the rumours about Maldonado signing with Lotus are true then Hulk might be more willing to sign a 1 year deal with Macca. He's after a long-term deal but if that isn't available 1 year with McLaren is better than 1 year back at Force India or at Sauber. I don't see Massa anywhere other than Willi...

Mal to FI would be good, but I think Sauber is more likely. He brings in more money than Gutierrez plus he's a race winner, a better comparison for Sergei's performance.

Lotus are waiting on the Quantum deal (and to a lesser extent a Renault title sponsor deal). They'll sign Hulk if the deal is signed, if not Maldonado. As much as I don't want to see it, I think Force India's line-up next year will be Di Resta - Maldonado. IMO, Di Resta does deserve a seat in F1, if Force India had been weak at the start of the year and strong towards the end of this year (a la Sauber) he would be in definite contention for the Lo...

Infinity Racing are renaming themselves to Quantum afaik to avoid confusion with Infiniti sponsoring Red Bull. This has nothing to do with the F1 team's name. What I cannot understand is why McLaren don't take a chance on him at the expense of Perez. They did it with Hamilton and that risk got them a world championship. The problem with Maldonado is he hasn't exactly been shy about criticizing Williams so he could be on his way out. And he says he doesn't care about formula one and is only here for race wins.
