Re: Hamilton getting boos from the crowd after hungarian gp pole.

Hamilton is the villain of the piece now in the eyes of most but at least we are seeing some fight from him. Its fascinating to see how he will proceed tactically now he seems to have shed his posterboy image to try and rattle Verstappen.

Re: Mercedes vs Red Bull - 2021

I think this (Q in Hungary) is the first demonstration of the underlying strength (and improving package) of the Merc. I think the championship is back in Mercedes (and Lewis's for WDC) hands for them to lose. I don't see Red Bull ultimately strong enough - they've beat Mercedes more often this sea...

Any chance of a Hamilton/Bottas/Merc penalty there?
For what? It's no different than Nadal endlessly tugging on his shorts between points on his serve when he's under the cosh.

Red Bull could have released their drivers earlier or Verstappen could have passed the Mercs on his outlap.

Verstappen is showing all the hallmarks of a champion. He's firmly the face in this battle and if he keeps his head he'll be a champion. I can't see a Hamilton championship as anything but slightly villainous unless Verstappen snaps.

Re: 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

I think Red Bull have the best strategy for obtaining track position in the slower car. If the race was a time trial then Merc definitely have the better strategy. It's very hard to overtake here though. Track position is key. Hamilton has passed Verstappen here only 2 years ago. Presuming a dry ra...

Checo has had to adapt a lot over the years. I realise the RB has more reputation then the various FI/Sauber/RP cars that he's driven, but Checo is adaptable. Maybe it wasn't quite what I meant. The only way I can describe it is Barrichello was often described as getting a fixed level of performanc...

Rosberg doing everything he can to avoid stating Hamilton was at fault in the pre-show lol. Rosberg's legacy being linked with Hamilton makes his support rather obvious. The better Hamilton is the better he is by extension. Verstappen just has to continue as he has earlier and not do anything stupid.

Even if Bottas claims pole, he'll probably be asked to let Hamilton go through (if Hamilton qualifies in 2nd & is 2nd after the first few corners with Bottas in lead). He then could be a costly roadblock for Max.
I doubt Bottas would comply with that order. Bottas wants a win this year.

Hamilton was unbelievably dirty when battling Rosberg and at no point did he ever even contemplate the concept of clean and fair racing. Bottom line Kubica drove a car capable of challenging the championship and Ricciardo hasn't. I think it's very important to make the distinction between a circumstantial challenger and a bona fide challenger. Kubica's 2008 challenge was firmly circumstantial. Hamilton and Massa were rather inconsis...

Ricciardo ran away from being Webber'd which seemed inevitable after Baku 2018. Most would argue that such a role is beneath him as he has very good if not elite pace.

So in this incident (Leclerc/Verstappen in Austria 2019), had Leclerc simply turned into the corner and headed on a line that took him a car's width from the apex, Verstappen would have been entirely to blame for the inevitable resulting contact?
