Re: Hamilton vs Russell 2022-2024 Revisited

I'm slightly more bullish on Hamilton's decline than others are. I do think these regulations haven't been a great fit for Hamilton but I do think if he gets a pointy car (big if) at Ferrari then we could see the Hamilton of old. I suspect the consistency would drop at 40 and Leclerc would have the ...

Re: McLaren

History never repeats itself but it does rhyme. McLaren still haven't fully learned the lessons of the 2010-2012 Hamilton-Button era. While it is positive that they have backed Norris for the WDC now, it's far too little too late. The team put the hammer down in Hungary to the point that Norris felt...

Yes the one lap pace has gone it seems. Mark Hughes claims that the W15 doesn't have the performance in the slow corners with Hamilton's hard braking and V line rewarding more progressive braking and a U line in slow corners. It will be interesting to see if next year follows the current trend or h...

Re: Who wins the 2024 WDC?

It remains to be seen if Verstappen can keep his nerve in the pack when the WDC is on the line. Every other driver will know he can't afford to crash out so the tables will have turned. Given his recent irritability I'm not sure he'll be able to keep his cool if someone pulls a marginal move on him.

Sainz was ill yesterday but still drove in FP1/2. Here you can see how visibly ill he looks but is sweet enough to sign autographs for fans. It always shocks me how elite sportspeople just carry on and push through illness. Is Sainz really that worried he'd be shown up by the reserve driver like St...

Re: Hamilton Vs Teammates

I exclude DNf's so they have no impact. That is not strictly true because Hamilton was almost always ahead when either driver suffered poor reliability or crashed out. So actually you are reducing Hamilton's margin. There was 20 DNFs between the pair and Hamilton was ahead when either of their cars...

The Hamilton vs Button gap is hurt hugely by the distribution of Hamilton's and Button's DNFs. That said, no teammate had enjoyed the consistent advantage Butto...

There were more overtakes in 2016 than 2022 despite one fewer race btw. I'd argue Hamilton lost more races to Rosberg and Bottas precisely because of the effect of dirty air.
