I don’t understand how this could result in him getting the championship? You wouldn’t cancel the whole race, most easiest would be disqualification for Alonso, which would result in Hamilton increasing his lead in the end.
But I’m guessing this is just a money grab

The Telegraph (UK) are reporting that Jos has said that Max will leave Red Bull if Horner stays. Also that Jos met with Toto over the weekend. I’m wondering why everyone seems to think it was harsh for Perez to get the penalty, it was a slam dunk for me. I am surprised how he did not do his “we are crashing or I’m taking the lead/keeping the lead” but I guess it is the first race. This allowed Leclerc to completely out fox him wheel to wheel. Going back to a question I asked earlier if there's any legal eagles in the house or if anyone knows one. Even if Masi acted within the rules under 15.3, would Merc not have a valid, legal argument from a common practice angle as Masis' actions were unprecedented in the history of safety cars in F1...

There wasn’t the data available then as there is now.
Now it’s easy to see if someone brake tests their opponent.
Also in those days, you didn’t take the risks some drivers do now. You wouldn’t live long

No,
Track was not suitable, too thin to allow proper racing
And the fact that one driver wasn’t racing, he was playing destruction derby and only pure luck stopped his opponent being taken out.
Verstappen was obliviously trying to take Hamilton out without looking deliberate.
