Re: Who are the BEST QUALIFIERS on the grid?
If Verstappen trashes Perez by a (significantly) larger margin than Hamilton has over Bottas, then the inevitable conclusion will be an uncomfortable one. Someone is projecting hard. I have no problem with conceding that Verstappen is faster than Hamilton after he's demonstrated that consistently a...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix
Lewis, Norris and Perez for me. Lewis I mean what can you say the guy is still in the middle of this magical run. I thought that him catching covid might have put an end to this run that he is in but it was not to be. He still has the nose for the checkered flag in the most unlikely of circumstances...

This track may look dull, but it often produces highly entertaining races. Will be very interesting. I don't think it looks dull at all. Say what you will about the country, the Bahrain track is beautiful at night. To each their own i guess. It looks dull to me. The cars do not look particularly fa...

Re: 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
Yes in summary we have a title fight, when criticising Bottas and qualifying perhaps doesn't matter that much well just tell Perez that, he couldn't get the fastest car through to Q3 on medium tyres, also it looks like Ferrari are much improved. well, in q2, perez was about the same distance from v...

Re: 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix Race Thread
Leclerc's long runs on the soft tire were dreadful on Friday compared to Sainz's medium run. So I don't think the soft tire is a good tire to be on with high fuel. So all the guys on softs will likely pit very early. Perez should move up the field easily. P4 should be the target for him and P3 is po...

Re: 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
Bottas not happy... ‘it’s undriveable’ Bottas 3.0 dead on arrival. Mercedes won't even have a race before he's relegated to number 2 wingman fast but not as fast as Lewis. The car being difficult to drive will make his title hopes disappear pretty soon. He’s also got Perez to worry about too this y...

Re: 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
Both Alpine and Aston Martin look relatively dreadful. Vettel and Alonso will be seeing each other a lot on track this year. Ferrari looking dangerous. Leclerc did not really put in a representative lap and his long runs were on softs.
So it looks like the top 4 will be
Redbull
Merc
Mclaren
Ferrari.

Merc experimenting with a high rake setup. Never recall seeing that before. They are in trouble imo. The mcl is right on their heels. The Flying Dutchman looking supreme. Checo albon? The 2019 merc also not liking these regulation changes. A much improved Ferrari it seems. Ricciardo getting up to sp...

Re: Who are the BEST QUALIFIERS on the grid?
We also have no clue as to whether Verstappen was maximising the car the last two seasons because he was paired with underperforming and inexperienced drivers. I ignored this point the last time but I quoted you, but it also deserves attention. I find it interesting how the only time Gasly has ever...

Re: Which team has the biggest driver disparity?
The biggest disparity this year? imo it will be a close call between the Redbull, Ferrari and Williams. Reasons; I think Latifi is probably the worst driver on the grid an Russell one of the most promising. Leclerc is that good while Sainz is a feisty competitor but will lack the outright pace to st...

IMO the merc issues seem real. But I am somewhat baffled that so many are expecting them to solve those issues. From what I understand there are restrictions to what they can develop or change this year through the token system. So it’s not like they can throw unlimited resources at it as they’ve d...

Re: Button is better than Hamilton in the wet - True or False?
IMO Lewis has gone to a new level in the wet the last 5 years. He used to be sort of on an off form in the wet in the past. I.e. in the 2012 Brazil race, Button was all over him in the wet and if I recall, even passed him. In 2013 and 2015 Rosberg appeared quicker than him when it was wet. But since...

Re: 2022 Engine Freeze
30 horsepower is a game-changer, that's worth close to half a second. No it is not. These engines' total output are too high for 30hp to make a meaningful difference. You're talking in the neighborhood of 1000 hp of total output. 30hp is too small a percentage to affect the power to weight ratio en...

It amazes me how people think that default position is that the driver who has failed to get poles he should have is faster in qualifying than the driver who has 50% more poles than Senna. Yes, and when you get outqualified by Hulkenberg coming out of retirement for a one off and then by the much c...

Re: How will Russell perform against Bottas?
It wouldn’t completely offset, they would have to pay Bottas his 2021 wages (maybe more for break of contract) and then pay Williams to break George’s contract. Williams demanded $12 million to break Bottas’ contact back in 2017 and Mercedes paid it. I imagine George would be that amount or more. S...

Bottas has been very sloppy so far. I can't remember the last time he has looked like this. Can't keep the car on the track at all. Hamilton is not ruining Verstappen 's legacy. However, if it is true that the Verstappens are blocking a remotely competitive teammate for Max, then this will taint his legacy for sure. Verstappen beat Ricciardo fairly clearly on qualifying pace in 2017 and 2018. The same Ricciardo who has smashed ...

Bottas has been in such a slump I would not be shocked if russel out qualifies him. But beating him in the race is harder to fathom. Russell’s race results at Williams have not been exactly stellar.
