Re: The difference Hamilton and Verstappen make

On a similar note, is terms of the quality of the drivers and performances, is this the best quality title fight ever? Alonso V Schumacher in 2006 was very intense. Ah yes good shout. The Prost vs Senna years were my other thoughts but I don’t know enough about those. Also a different dynamic when ...

Re: Mercedes vs Red Bull - 2021

Mercedes for me. Interestingly horner said they were evens across the lap during the race except for T6 where they consistantly lost 2 tenths. Shame about the penalty for max, with his start he could have got the lead at turn 1 and won. Possibly, but starting on the dirty side he may not have been ...

Re: 2021 Qatar Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

I can't see them giving Max anything more than a reprimand tbh, even though he deserves a penalty. They want the championship to go down to the wire. Of course they do, most of us do. You can't just ignore plain and simple rules like that though. I am really intrigued what they'll do here. I don' t...

A big scoop..........

Supposedly, Hamilton wasn't running the fresh engine in qualy which he had in Brazil. Hamilton's arsenal is mighty!
wow, so it's not down to the new engine. Amazing where all this newfound pace is coming from.

Maybe Marko was on to something when he was talking about the Hamilton's new engine. I mean it it is not only fresher but it is likely running a higher mode because it only has to do 4 races. He looks untouchable right now, even Bottas cannot come close. Max probably seeing his championship hopes ev...

Re: 2021 Qatar Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

According to PdResta the driver trying to play catch up in the title chase being 0.5s quicker in his qually sim, according to AWS, is harmful for the championship, another sprinkling of saltiness perhaps. I thought that was funny. Guaranteed if it is Verstappen ahead with that gap he would not have...

Toto Wolff says “two screws” were to blame for Lewis Hamilton’s qualifying DSQ in Brazil as they became loose during the session. https://www.planetf1.com/news/mercedes-two-loose-screws-lewis-hamilton-brazil-dsq/ Surely they should have been allowed to replace those without a DSQ. The wing was test...

Merc feel unfairly targeted as they havent been able to inspect the wing - even now its impounded by the FIA. The drawings show that it should have passed the test but it failed by 0.2mm in only one specific area which they believe would have actually impeded Hamilton. Merc suspect it was damage fr...

The big reason, in my opinion, is that Mercedes felt that they were getting targeted unfairly throughout the weekend. Hamilton's DQ for the wing infraction (even though the FIA mentioned that it was not their fault), when RB were getting weekends to repair theirs clearly bothered them. Of course, r...

Re: Brazil 2021 - Should Max have been given a Penalty

The evidence is now out. It's clear what they must do; 5 pace grid drop for the next race. The other option would be to add 5 sec to his time in Brazil so he'd lose 3 points. I would rather the grid drop the next race even though he can still win the race, especially if Redbull is the best car at th...

The classic you bail out or we collide move from Max today. I wouldnt be suprised if they collide in the next 3 races. I don't think they will collide again. Hamilton is figuring him out. I don't buy that Mercedes suddenly have a faster car. How will they perform in the warmer conditions of the Middle East where Red Bull have done well this season? It's going to swing back and forth. It is simultaneously true that both drivers can be extracting 97-99% of the potential pace from the W12 and RB16B while Verstappen would possible have a 1 tenth edge if both drove the RB16B (although it has all the characteristics Hamilton has ever wanted in a car so I think it could be even closer...

Mercedes is a better qualifying car based on top speed? The first chart (average speed of fastest qualifying lap) has nothing to do with top speed. I'd be shocked if Verstappen spent his entire career at Red Bull. The current record for most seasons with a single team is Schumacher with 11.
