Re: What should be the new Qualifying format?
What about a playoff format? Random lots are drawn to make groups of 4 racers. Racers in a group are released 15 seconds apart to do a warmup lap, then as they cross the line, timer starts. They get 3 laps to see who clocks the best times. Top 2 proceed to next round, the bottom 2 from every group f...

Koenigsegg F1?
With some talk of who might take up the remaining spot, I got thinking about potential supercar manufacturers who could give it a shot. They've got the status of having (had) the fastest roadcar, but they're still not a household name like Ferrari, Porsche or Lambo. Could F1, in the long-run, possib...

Will be funny next year when the rain hits somewhere....
I can imagine a big pack of cars cautiously trailing Jenson in the rain, waiting to see what he's going to do.

Re: Force India - First Safety Car Was A 'Fix'
I don't like the current concept of the safety car at all. Rediculously unfair. Why should Button and Hulk sacrifice their races due to the error of another? When it's time for the safety car to return to the pits, why can't they release cars one-by-one, in accordance with the gap which existed pre-...

If the midfield seats are getting snapped up, maybe Kobayashi will find himself at Caterham, Marussia or reformed-HRT? Decent racer, could probably make himself shine down there and earn himself a bigger drive next season. Might be a good catch for the lower teams as it'll bring some fans there way ...

Re: Seems like Vettel did pass someone under flashing yellow
The flags serve the purpose of ensuring safety around the track, they're not a reaction test to catch out drivers. If a driver is deliberately ignoring flags to gain an advantage; racing unsafely, then of course he must be penalised. But if it's not so clear - which it cannot be if we're debating ab...

Re: can button win wdc in 2013???
Very, very likely to be a contender.
We can presume McLaren will be up there somewhere, and Button's going to probably be driver#1 there for the foreseeable future.
He's got a WDC title already, he can obviously win a race, and he's got a good constructor backing him.

Can't we Merge a Few Races for Next Year?
It seems that next year the Spanish Grand Prix is following Germany's example and alternating between races every year. I think we should do the same in a few other places, to eliminate some of the deadwood on the calendar, to help a few places cut their losses, and to increase exposure around the w...

I'm sorry but this isn't the playground. This is the peak of motorsport. Incidents like this cost championships; ultimately careers and millions of pounds. Ending somebody's race cannot, at all, be taken lightly. Not in this situation, but if a driver is taken out through no fault of his own after 2...

that defeats the purpose of having a safety car ... which is for marshals to do trackside work ( clean debris, remove cars, move injured racers etc) .... Sorry if it wasn't clear in OP. Safety Cars
Could anybody be as kind as to explain the procedure involved when a safety car is deployed? From Wiki and what I've heard on TV here and there, I gather that when it's out, there's no overtaking and there's reduced speed, and when the situation is improved, it's a free-for-all again. If this is the...

Re: Why isn't Guia Circuit (Macau) in F1?
You're never getting an F1 car around that hairpin. F3 cars can't even hit the apex properly... Wouldn't have to be copied corner for corner however. An F1 configuration could be worked out surely, re-rerouting the northern sector of the track. Was thinking more along the lines of the general locat...

Re: Why isn't Guia Circuit (Macau) in F1?
A huge shame. I guess the track is just a little too narrow aswell. If there were overtaking spots, it'd be an immense on the edge of your seat race. Some of the corners are brutal. I wonder if it'd be possible to change the layout a little to make it a little more accomodating. Might check out Goog...

The relevant thing is not that a Coca-Cola owned brand wants to sponsor the team, what's really important is HOW MUCH MONEY they will pump into it. This year, Lotus was sponsored (among others) by Microsoft and Unilever, two huge mega-corporations, but they seemed to be in financial trouble... I do...

For the sponsorship thing, Lotus probably have the 'funnest' pairing on the grid: Kimi with his coolcat attitude, and Grosjean having a bit of raw speed and clocking a few incidents over the season. I'm assuming Coca Cola want to market their Burn drink towards the 15-30 age range, and the 'edginess...
