Re: 2024 Chinese Grand Prix Race Thread
Well, before this season I hadn’t missed a race in 30 years!! This season, for various reasons, (start times plus general losing interest) I haven’t watched the races until today. Thanks to a sensible start time in the uk, i finally caught a race, and I honestly don’t think I will be making any eff...

I like to believe that one is innocent, unless proven guilty in a court of law. Whatever happened to presumption of innocence? I can see why rival teams will be rubbing hands with a whole lot of glee. They are already talking about people leaving, which if am honest, it is wishful thinking. Verstap...

Stopped watching about lap 20 to go to tesco, did I miss anything Yeah. You missed the chance to take a nap to the sound of cars running around pointlessly in circles. That's what I did! Discussing when we got bored & what we did next is as interesting as the race seemed to have been! I'd even sugg...

Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.
No team would have pitted in Mercedes' (WDC-winning) position, and I wish the fallacy that they had that choice would stop being repeated. They didn't have to believe the race would end under the SC. Though all teams have historical experience & insight into length of time it takes to clear similar ...

I sympathize, but find the back to back weekends excuse unsatisfactory. It's a problem of F1's own making and shouldn't override the FIA doing what's best or fair in terms of checks.

One for another thread maybe, but only 2 pages for this race. Is it just that people are sick of Monaco, or is interest in F1 dying slowly? Knowing the winner before the weekend starts and knowing the wdc way before summer does not help either. I definitely feel many of the same reasons as already ...

Race doesn't bode well for the rest of the season for those that don't want to see complete dominance. I'd say just one page of comments at race end, for the first race of the season, is a pretty damning reflection of excitement or levels of interest this race/year. If not for Aston Martin & Alonso...

WDC home nation GP is an interesting idea, though limited by how many FIA Grade 1 circuits there are?
Perhaps the WDC could nominate any eligible circuit (driver favourite), obviously with Liberty covering the hosting fees.

I've long said that if you skip a chicane and there is a driver behind you within 1 second then you should automatically have to concede that position. Essentially Perez may not have been about to overtake Leclerc but had he bean 5 seconds back it seems very unlikely to me Leclerc makes that mistak...

Will Verstappen & Russell's Mediums last to the end?
Will Sainz's Softs?
If Leclerc's Softs are expected to, then I assume Hamilton's will too as only a little older.

Watched the sprint live today, which is rare for me, but it felt largely stale and irrelevant to me, other than seeing Verstappen walk another one to extend his points lead that I'm sure isn't the intended point of them. Also, much of the turn 4 action felt to me like it crossed the line of fairness...

Merc aren't far off being back in the race at the front. Hamilton had the leaders pace in Spain and almost has here. Can't help but think that if we are going to have DRS, rather than shorten the length of time a car can have it open, perhaps they should simply reduce the DRS opening so the speed gain is halved. It's amazing that after n years of DRS, with all the experience and simulations available that they on...

I would have imagined that the line rule change was because it is easier to police a tyre's position relative to the line rather than the "any part" of the car definition. But in doing so they avoided making an obvious clarification of the rule to specify any part of a tyre touching, or whole tyre o...

Anyone defending the one racing lap might find it useful to consider a couple of scenarios: a) Latifi crashed a lap earlier: Masi would have followed the usual procedure, we get one racing lap, and Verstappen wins. b) Latifi crashes a lap later: Masi is out of options, no contrivance can provide a r...

To me, "Overriding authority..." of the "use of the safety car", means he decides when to deploy it, when to recall it, and whether to allow lapped cars to pass in accordance with the regulations.
