Re: Which of Schumacher's remaining records will Lewis break

He may hang it up with seven championships if he exceeds Schumacher's race win total. I would think that race wins would be the tiebreaker most people would use to determine who was the most successful driver (with WDC's being the first thing). That's just my thoughts...I mean if you don't use race ...

Re: Vettel's post-Canada behaviour

I don't have an issue with his post race behavior, was it in my opinion "perfect", no, but I think the steward's decision was not perfect. I think they should have told him he either gives Hamilton the position within x laps or gets a 5 second penalty if he does not comply...then if he gives Hamilto...

Jordan is the most over-rated player in history.

He's was very good, but not greater than Wilt, Rusell, Kareem, and Magic. He was not better than peak Bird either.

Re: Rate the multi WDC F1 Champions

I think Prost is one of the 4-5 all time best. Yes, he was out qualified by Senna 28-4, but I think Prost was smart. He knew if he put all his eggs in the qualifying basket he would be beaten by Senna (not 28-4 but something along the lines of 20-12 or thereabouts). He knew his best chance was to fo...

yeah but in regard to the discussion it's Alonso's interpretation that counts, since that led to the actions he took which ultimately shaped the rest of his career. In terms of pure driving talent he is one of the best there has ever been. In the same league as Clark, Senna, Prost, Schumacher, and Hamilton. Much as Schumacher will always be rated as more successful than all of the others with the possible exception of Hamilton, Alonso will not be rated as being...

Wait Hamilton or Alonso haven't won in cars that weren't the best? Vettel had the best car from 2009 through 2013. Both Hamilton and Alonso won races and were competitive during that era and some of their cars that they won races in during that era were pretty poor.

I favor Hamilton over Alonso, in terms of overall greatness. That is my opinion. Yet, I somehow just can't fathom that Alonso is likely to finish at two WDC's and 30 ish race wins. His career choices have been poor. Yet the skill is there. I don't know how many WDC's or race wins Vettel or Hamilton ...

He may be motivated to try to beat Schumacher's records, but for most people it won't matter. If Lewis quit at 90 wins and 6 WDC's does that mean Schumacher was better? If Lewis quits at 92 wins and 8 WDC's does that mean Lewis was better? No to both. It means one of them achieved slightly more. He ...

No, just no. The thing that makes F-1 great is the multiple turns in different directions, it takes a different level of driver. If I want to see open wheel racing on an oval (I don't), I'd just watch the Indy 500.

The 1996 and 1997 Williams were world beaters. The 1996 and 1997 McLaren's were not. If he could have held on at Williams (ie got the seat over JV or Damon or even another year as a test driver then beat out HHF for the seat in 97) he *might* have won a WDC in 1996 or 1997.

I think Ferrari were under some pressure to be fast in testing, so they would have wanted to be fast to keep the Italian press off their tails. I don't know that he was a better driver but being out qualified by Deletraz could not have helped the career of Domenico Schiattarella (which admittedly was going no-where fast, but then Deletraz wasn't noted for doing anything fast either).

More money should go to the teams. Fine, but I'll say this: Alboreto was leading after week 9 in 1985 by five points then Prost tied him in week 10...it was only mechanical DNF's in the last five weeks of the year that allowed Prost to pull away. Alonso is going to be 36 years old during the year next year. Drivers do not get faster after their first few years over one lap and tend to lose a little speed after 33-34 or so.
