Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix

I generally only vote for one, and today it had to be Norris.

Tsunoda was closest to getting a vote otherwise, as others have said as impressive as his fightback was, especially for a rookie, he had his finishing position helped by the misfortune of other drivers.

Re: Predict Mercedes 2022 line-up

My thinking on Perez was that he will perform at a level that Red Bull will want to keep him, thus getting Mercedes interested as their car advantage is likely to narrow. The best way to retain the advantage will then be to poach their driver, upset the balance in the team and hope that the replacem...

Hamilton and Russell if Hamilton can’t see any better opportunities for 2022 (bar Ferrari and Red Bull who I don’t think would be open to signing him anyway.) If he wins the 8th then immediately retires he would be a hypocrite for criticising Rosberg for not allowing others a chance to win the title...

I’d have preferred Callum Illott got the seat to be honest, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd getting a shot at F1 is logical. 1st, 3rd and 5th with a social media incident doesn’t sit right with me.

I won’t comment on the video itself, as I haven’t seen either version and don’t wish to do so. He certainly should hold himself to higher standards regardless of the facts of the incident and it baffles me that such a video should find its way onto social media. Lewis should have signed earlier, his bargaining power is now reduced and he pretty much has to sign whatever is put in front of him unless he is happy to take a year (perhaps more) out. There are no seats left and while not the complete package yet, George will do a good job for a fraction of the p...

I am surprised, though I thought it was what they should do. I was convinced that Albon’s drive in Abu Dhabi would be enough considering that they hadn’t snapped Perez up when Albon wasn’t delivering exactly the kind of drive that was expected of him. I do feel sorry for Albon in that he has been le...

I was going to say Russell, then I thought about it and decided, Leclerc. - Hamilton gets an 8th WDC in 2021 and Mercedes sign Russell for 2022. Mercedes have achieved their aim of beating Schumacher’s haul of titles with Hamilton and have the record for WCC’s, so tell Hamilton that if he wants a 9t...

Perez has been the unluckiest guy of 2020. He's lost at least three podiums to bad luck and Red Bull will probably use Albon's third place as the reason to announce him for 2021. My thoughts exactly. “Two cars on the podium for the first time since Daniel left” or something to that effect. Perez wa...

Wishing Lewis a speedy recovery.

He says he doesn’t care about records but I do wonder if the end of those streaks will bother him deep down.

A cautionary tale for all to learn from if he has not celebrated his title at all and still ended up catching it.

I’m expecting a replacement be announced by or at the next race. Disappointed that Merc didn’t give Bottas the softs, when it’s not the FIA robbing us of a race it’s Merc. Perez, Hulkenberg or another chance for Gasly. Gasly seems to be comfortably beating Kvyat, though I thought Kvyat should have been given another chance ahead of promoting Albon in his debut season. Shame about the lack of prep, with it being Lance’s car instead of Perez’s if a podium was on the cards it would go to the driver who earned it with no chance of team politics.

Hulk would have raced here before though, not all of the drivers have, so that might help him a little.

Agreed. When you hand out a severe penalty for something but let somebody else off, it does start to feel that it is contrived. A penalty for Norris would have helped Bottas I’m guessing.

I would have given it a drive through, 5 second stop-go at the very most. That would have cost them the time that the other cars would have spent pitting under normal conditions. The point of a penalty is to stop a driver gaining an advantage by breaking the rules, surely? 10 second-stop go is the m...
