Re: 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread

If the red flag period was extended specifically to allow for cars to be repaired then at what point do we now draw the line? Can it be extended for 5 minutes? 10 minutes? 30 minutes?, and if it was extended for that purpose, the potential for accusations of favoritism & inconsistent application of...

Re: 2022 aero design

Basically no, it isn't purely aesthetic, but it's not purely for generating downforce either. A significant element of the design is to actually use the rear wing to reduce dirty air for the following car -- OK, that makes sense and could explain why it looks like the Indy wing - last thing you wan...

Re: 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread

Plenty of time for you too, Greenman. What have you come up with? Plus, perhaps it was all for safety work. Not simply clearing the circuit but allowing teams to ensure the cars they were sending back out were all safe. I have no problem and I'd rather have a longer red flag and more cars in the ra...

Re: 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread

That moment going into T4 where Alonso moved over onto Lewis and there was slight contact was right on the limit, but everyone got away with it. I don't think there was contact, but it certainly was close. Hamilton knows that Alonso knows he doesn't have to leave him more than a car's width on the ...

Re: 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread

I just read on Autosport that Hamilton said Alonso's defence was a bit over the limit. I would have to look at the race again, but I can't say I have seen anything that he doesn't do. I find his remarks more and more annoying.

Re: 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread

. So, there has been plenty of time for people to look up the regs, has anyone found a regulation that allows the stewards to extend the red flag period to allow car repairs, as opposed for essential safety works on track ? Strange how everyone is o.k. with the stewards making up new regulations on...

Re: 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread

Bit of an unrelated note, but just what is the point of the teams wearing masks any more? All wearing them under their chin and all screaming and shouting face to face. The celebration is understandable, but masks are beyond pointless at the moment. I think it is to underline how much more importan...

Including examples where there was no contact or cause for stewards to investigate. Jumping into a conversation without understanding the content is rarely a smart decision. Verstappen did not get any kind of penalty for his driving at Imola and Spain this year, so why are so many Hamilton fans com...

The pit lane is only closed for safety reasons, it was closed at Monza because men were in the pit lane entry pushing a broken down car.
Good point, I stand corrected. Which car was that?

By chance I watched Netflix's episode on Pièrre Gasly's Italian GP win of last year. After Leclerc's crash the pitlane was closed initially, though Hamilton did make a pitstop. His penalty struck me, as I had forgotten all about it - not at all difficult at my age. :) After the restart, Hamilton re...

I readily believe Hamilton had understeer, he certainly didn't use his full steering lock. But we all know that's not necessarily what is going to help when your speed is simply too high for the line you have chosen. Which makes me wonder what his planning for overtaking at Copse on Sunday had been...

Round in circles and all that, you both have a point. Is too much being made of the understeer. Was there even enough time between turn in and collision to say he had loads.
