This is probably the hardest DotD of the season so far.
Most of the front runners were good without doing anything noteworthy.
I guess to answer @Eprom question. Different folk see it different ways.

Re: 2024 Japanese Grand Prix Race Thread
Lewis often starts slow during the season, that in itself isn't unusual. However..... I have a slightly different gut feeling about this. But.... he is far too experienced and good to be written off as past it after a poor run of form over a handful of races. I agree we should be waiting until the s...

As a slightly different take to team mate wars (my favourite thread on here)- thought it might be fun to keep tabs of the DotD. Given we don't get reliable results on these polls down to 10, I'm going to tally the points based on the 90's scoring system for the top 6. If drivers are tied on votes, t...

Vettel had a short peak, and when on it - he was spectacular.
but.... he looked past it for at least his last 3yrs in f1 and will have had 2yrs away.

I did race until recently, albeit at a club level. When you are racing you rely so much on trusting other drivers being predictable. If they are, you just flow. You don't really look all that much in your mirrors, as you are just naturally aware - you do glance a few times a lap to see. Corners like...

I reckon I've seen the careers of 5 all time great drivers in my time watching F1. I only seen the tail end of Prost and Senna so never lived through it to judge the whole picture. In terms of overall attributes - I'd rate them: 1) Alonso 2) Schumacher 3) Verstappen 4) Hamilton (Some daylight) 5) Ve...

Alonso still has the race craft, awareness and experience. I do think that relentless race pace has declined a bit though. I think the same maybe true for Hamilton. As you get older, speed of thought slows, and reactions slow and errors creep in. In boxing they call it the "trigger", when a fighter ...

It's significantly easier to judge the white line limit on a bike than an F1 car. You can see all of your wheel for a start and you're head is centric with the wheels. Problem F1 has we are policing track limits to the millimeter, and the drivers will push the limit to the millimeter. You see two ca...

Re: The Official Carlos Sainz Jr. Thread
Personally feel that Sainz is under rated.
Sure he isn't an elite driver, but he is a guy who could get a WDC in the right circumstances. His race awareness, race management, and defence is amongst the best on the grid. He just lacks a tenth or two and consistency that the very best have.

I'm not sure I'd describe any top driver in my lifetime as being totally fair. Hamilton has a great talent in judging how far he can push into the blurry bit about fairness, whilst rarely going over it. This is a compliment of him, not a criticism. I think almost all elite level sports folk in indiv...

I think calling it a brake test is a little unfair, even if it technically was one. The spirit of what Alonso was doing, wasn't to brake test Russell in the way we understand the term brake test. I've no reason to disbelieve Alonso, his recount seems like what he was trying to do, and what happened....

Not sure I'd call what Alonso done a brake check as per how we all understand it. He was playing a DRS game though, although I don't think the consequence was intended. It was a deliberate action taken to avoid DRS detection that caused a fairly major accident. Russell isn't totally blameless for cr...

Obviously it's more interesting to have 2 drivers in a title fight compared to 1 driver in a title fight. Dominance is tolerable when that happens.

Verstappen is one of the easiest picks on the grid. Perez will do a little better this year but it will still be a trouncing around 80/20.
Hamilton will be at Russell at around a 60/40 split.

At 41 and joining Ferrari. It's a ballsy move from Lewis tbh, although maybe 5-6yrs too late. Although, even if it's a disaster, due to the mitigating factor of age, I don't think he loses anything much from a reputational lens. He can only gain if it's a success. But...... Shorten the length of the cars by at least 100cm to bring them to similar length to a big car.
Decrease the braking performance to make braking zones about 25% longer
Simplify the aero. 2 element front wings.
