Re: Hamilton's Sportsmanship (split from Bahrain 2021 Race Thread)

I am certainly no Hamilton fan. However as a top level racing driver - nobody can every say he has a tendency to go beyond that blurred line of fair and unfair. In fact one of Hamiltons best assets is his ability to judge the blurred boundary of fair and unfair, and push fair to the limit - and that...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

Hands up if since reading / contributing to this thread, you've changed your mind over who's the best out of MS and LH? I've shifted from a position of it being a toss-up with Schumacher prevailing over time to a narrow but consistent Schumacher edge. Although, I'd put this down to team dynamics an...

:uhoh: 8 It's all conjecture, but lets put it this way. They're close enough in real-world timelines to play with this scenario. What if we rewind to 2014. 1 x WDC 29 year old Hamilton lines up on the grid with a 29 year old 2 x WDC Schumacher as his teammate. Everything else is as it actually was i...

It would make me very sad to see a "Williams Renault" propping up the back of the grid.

It was the era I got into motorsport, and those two words mean a lot when put together. A bit like McLaren Honda.

Re: If Hamilton doesn't sign

Even Rosberg has alluded to it a few times, as to how Hamilton likes to build the perception that he's the underdog or has to fight for everything, even when he's collecting virtually free titles in the all-conquering Merc. I don't dispute that Hamilton had easy runs to the title in 2015, 2019 and ...

He is creating a record legacy that - so long as F1 is healthy - is almost certainly not going to be broken in his lifetime. I don't know what drives Lewis Hamilton, but that in itself is worth a hell of a lot. I know we said that about Schumacher, but after this Mercedes period of dominance, I can'...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

My own opinion is that Schumacher achieved 91 race wins in less races than Hamilton. Both drivers have been very fortunate in machinery at their disposal, and both eras of dominance were pretty boring. I do think Hamilton has had the best ever career long equipment of any driver in the history of th...

 Mercedes dominance makes it hard to assess for me in terms of where Hamilton stands as a tier 1 driver. Also different peaks too. I don't think that Barrichello is underrated. This is merely brought up by Schumacher fans who want to deflect from how easy MS had it in the dominant Ferrari years. Barrichello was always on the level of Irvine, both as teammates at Jordan and relative to Schumacher at Ferrari. Moreover, a midfiel...

I've seen it theorised that Jacques lost his edge after the Melbourne crash in 2001 that killed a marshall. It's difficult to know for sure with that sort of thing. Experience and age are two different things.
