Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
The only criticism I have of this year's WDC is that up until now..... its all been a bit too nice. That lack of needle does detract a bit as a neutral watching. Its all been a bit third place playoff in terms of excitement. Im not sure there ever will be needle. Oscar is horizontal laid back, and L...

50-70% chance of rain during qualifying and 30-50% during the race. Silverstone never disappoints. The UK has been dry for months as well. https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2637827 Based on my expertise in British weather from watching Clarkson's farm, it should rain with a 100% chance! March was the d...

Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
Tbh Norris, Piastri, Russell, Leclerc and even an aging Hamilton are all pretty interchangeable (with Leclerc being the one I think may be the next best). An aging Hamilton has been soundly beaten by both Russell and now (even more so) Leclerc, so I don't think he can be considered in that group an...

In my opinion - outside of Verstappen, there isn't much between the next layer. I dont think there is really an obvious pecking order between 2 and 6. Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
Looking over the last 50yrs, the title is won by a non elite tier driver around 40% of the time. Its not unusual. I think most would agree that Norris and Piastri are not elite tier drivers. However, both are very good and belong in the group of drivers good enough to win a title in the right circum...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: Austria 2025
As said in the race thread, it shows how bad Tsunodas weekend was, when his team mates race was over after 20 seconds.... and he is going to lose this vote convincingly.
Finishing last of the running cars isn't great. Verstappen would have lapped him at least once had he not been taken out.

Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
I thought it was a light penalty for Colapinto.
It was a lack of spacial awareness not befitting of an F1 level driver - he nearly wiped out the WDC leader needlessly, presumably because he didn't know he was there.

Re: Is Yuki actually doing a better job than Lawson might?
Was today the worst performance of a Red Bull number two ever? I mean Gasly was pretty bad, and at a time when that #2 seat wasn't as difficult. However, as I said in the race thread - when your team mate essentially didn't take part in the race and they are still going to win team mate wars convin...

So getting the delta on the first pit stop was pointless He had 4 lap fresher tyres, should have given him a 0.1 a lap at advantage least + he thought he was quicker, so 0.2 a lap quicker at least . He only closed the gap from 5.7 to 4.3 in around 25 laps. He did not do enough with the advantage. O...

That's totally on Antonelli. Got caught out, but it's pretty amatuer mistake.
I'd expect a grid drop for next race for that.

Pitt has been in a lot of decent films. In terms of films I enjoy, his name features a lot - which surprises me as I think of him as a Brat Pack pretty boy actor.

Re: Spain '25 Russel V Verstappen
The last corner he was in a position where he had to push as hard as possible to have any chance of keeping Leclerc behind thus naturally had a higher chance of an error. So whilst the error was somewhat forced, it's still an error and it was the catalyst for Max losing himself 11pts - and that's en...

It was a big mistake from Norris, but Norris is still within a mechanical DNF of leading the WDC.
As said before, despite looking the stronger, Piastri isn't getting away from Norris.
I expect still Norris to hit a run of form at some point this season.

Verstappen for all his faults is probably the most consistent driver I've seen at extracting everything out of a car. He's had 4-5 years now with few off weekends in terms of pace and major errors. His off weekends are caused by his psychology and doing stupid things. Whilst you dont know for sure, ...

DotD is about more than sheer performance.
It would be a fair argument that Kimi is DotD based on a good weekend and a first podium, whilst Russell thrashing him in TMW.

They don't like each other. Max particularly has a gripe with Russell.
I've no problem with what Russell did - but it was absolutely 100% a bit of gamesmanship (which I dont mind a bit of) and a bit sneaky (again I dont mind a bit of the dark arts).
There isn't much to see here though.

Without the slide I think Leclerc simply gets him in the braking zone rather than half way down the straight. See how far both McLarens were ahead already.
