Re: 2024 Italian Grand Prix Race Thread
Really get the sense that the 'falling off the cliff' narrative of these Pirelli tyres is overdone. As long as you manage them a lot, they don't seem to really drop off for a very, very long time. They explode before they fall off the cliff And how long was it since they last exploded? Any time the...

Mclaren could have shot themselves in the foot here to Ferrari - that's a lot of time Piastri and co need to catch to Leclerc?

Re: 2024 British Grand Prix Race Thread
Not taking anything away from Lewis, it was a great drive and a hard fought win but I do wonder sometimes if the preferred result is discussed pre-race at the drivers meetings, today seems like a dream result, similar to when Carlos one the race a few days after an appendectomy and I sure there hav...

Re: 2024 British Grand Prix Race Thread
Was it the team who put him on softs, or did Lando make the choice? Honestly I think it was somewhat on Mclaren to say to him that mediums made sense. They seem to have a small habit of placing too much reliance on what the drivers think. The long radio call on whether to cover Hamilton or Verstapp...

Re: 2024 British Grand Prix Race Thread
Something most people on here have said already, many times; Norris is not at the same level as Verstappen and Hamilton, especially when the pressure is on. Piastri must be awful so Piastri would have won the race today had McLaren not made him stay out and double-stacked instead. Agree but you’re ...

Re: 2024 British Grand Prix Race Thread
It should have been a McLaren 1-2. Yes, absolutely; first stupid call was not double-stacking in the pits for inters, second one was putting Norris on softs. How they get paid millions to be there with all the data and miss what someone sitting at home watching TV can see is beyond me. Was it the t...

Missed that Alonso got a penalty til now. Very confused. Is the art of slowing down in a corner to reduce the car behind’s momentum dead? Or is it just stewards bashing Alonso for the sake of it again?

It's difficult for me to have too much of an argument against Red Bull giving Verstappen the undercut. Can anyone really imagine him not breezing past on track anyway? From Red Bull's pov why not let it happen nice and clean in the pits. Sky, and in particular Bernie, seem to want to create drama o...

Did they change the rule on wet weather tyres? I thought as long as race officials declare it’s a wet race, drivers don’t need to pit for two distinct dry tyres. Now it seems you have to use two distinct soft tyres if you did not use wet tyres.

But you didn't? Verstappen and Verstappen. Alonso puts on inters on his first stop and he wins That was all commentator hype. Max was 8 seconds in front and never in danger. One thing I did like though was Max saying 'INTERS' when the team let him know what Alonso went on to. No discussion no debat...

I'm sorry but is this Bernie all that she's meant to be cracked up to be? Haven't paid attention to much of the weekend, but earlier she made the comment about the Red Bulls waiting four minutes at the pitlane for SP3 in order to cool down the tyres? Surely they could just remove them from the tyre ...

Re: 2023 Azerbaijan Grand Prix FP & Qualy/Sprint Thread
My initial reaction to the sprint qualifying is that apart from the slightly increased jeopardy it’s not that different from normal qualifying. I’d like them to make the last session one lap only. Agreed. Also find it quite annoying to have so many sessions to watch over a weekend. Feel like you ca...

Re: The Official Fernando Alonso thread
Just on the race last weekend, I do think Alonso held back quite a bit. Tyre management was very good and I think he probably could have attacked the cars in front of him much earlier rather than saving himself for later on (given he pit only a lap or two later than Ham IIRC (my stream cut out at so...

Just reading the headline timetable, and the field spread looks incredibly narrow. Any moderate sandbagging would jump a car from outside of the top ten to 4th
