Re: 2017 McLaren livery revealed?
Did anybody notice the Castrol logo on his left sleeve? Why this hasn't been officially confirmed yet is beyond me, but it's confirmed now.

Re: Force India - Insolvent?
I will also add that from the article I read, this has been building over a period of years. There have been rumors all over the paddock for the last 3 or 4 years that Force India was late or wasn't paying it's supplier's bills. The suppliers have been very patient, but now they are starting to put ...

Re: Force India - Insolvent?
I don't think we'll have to worry about FI not making the grid this season, mostly because I can't imagine some backer of the Mexican GP will allow the race to go off without Perez taking the grid. I think the difference in the number of people showing up to the track at some point in the weekend b...

Red Bull and Lotus could miss Jerez too.
Looks like there is the possibility that Lotus and Red Bull could be on the sidelines with Force India when the first Jerez test gets underway on Sunday. Apparently, Red Bull has failed the front nose cone crash test at their factory. Since Newey gave the team such a late start in constructing the c...

Re: Force India - Insolvent?
While your point is valid, Sahara - which is FI's title sponsor - isn't a VJM company. Actually it is valid. Sahara isn't owned by VJM, but it is owned by Subrata Roy who became co owner of Force India a couple of years ago. So, they aren't a paying sponsor either. In fact, Mr. Roy is sitting in an...

Great point RaggedMan. I hadn't even thought about the name change with Mercedes in the title. That could very well explain it. I guess that's what I get for automatically thinking the worst.

Some interesting notes on latest 2015 entry list
The latest 2015 F1 World Championship entry list published in the last couple of days has a few surprises worth noting. 1. Caterham and Manor are still listed on it. 2. And the one that really caught my eye, Lotus is now listed as "subject to confirmation". This wasn't the case when the original lis...

Re: A Closed Cockpit Ferrari - Very Nice...........
Just throw some fenders on it and you have a WEC car. I'm totally against enclosed cockpits. If you close the cockpits then you change the formula. Jules Bianchi was injured due to bad decisions not an open cockpit. And there's nothing you can do to safeguard against bad decisions.

Re: How DID McLaren turn their 2009 car into a race winner?
I think it comes down to every team develops their cars continuously now when that used to not be the case. In prior years, when McLaren needed to catch up, the could and did. These days, you need to be fast out of the box because every team develops their cars. Take this year: McLaren has made gain...

Re: Dietrich Mateschitz on Vettel leaving Red Bull
Wow, the Vettel and Red Bull relationship has come apart like a cheap suit in record time. Mateschitz sounds like a jilted lover, Newey got the hell out of Dodge because he's apparently out of design ideas, and Vettel risks tarnishing his legacy if he doesn't improve next season. Its looking more an...

Re: Alonso 2015
After the Russian Grand Prix, the NBC Sports Network over here in the United States quoted Alonso as telling them, "My next team will not be powered by Mercedes." So there you go. A pretty big hint dropped by Alonso, and it eliminates a lot of the teams from the guessing game.

Re: Thoughts About Monza, the circuit.
I agree Monza is great with it's simple layout. Just like the old Hockenheim (before it was detroyed) was great, and I think Red Bull Ring is great. It's a simple layout also.

Re: Jenson Buttons future uncertain as McLaren chase Alonso.
I know everyone is "down" on McLaren (and for good reason), but my prediction is this. There are going to wind up being a few drivers "sorry" they didn't join McLaren/Honda when they had the chance.

Was Vettel a mirage?
After 4 consecutive championships, it's hard to say Sebastian Vettel is a "flash in the pan", but after Hungary today, I'm really beginning to wonder. Ricciardo is making him look bad. Real bad. The reduction of downforce for the cars this season looks like it's affecting him more than any other dri...

Re: So what do we do to improve the 'show'?
I'm not sure you'll ever be able to do much as long as you have a commercial rights holder who is worried about nothing but money. If I could run it, I would start with these. 1. Equal distribution of money among all teams. No one gets a "sweetheart" deal for signing the Concord agreement like Ferra...

Re: Jules Bianchi's options for 2015
I think you will see him in a Sauber for 15 and Ferrari for 16. Sauber hasn't had a great season, but it's not completely the teams fault. You also have to factor in the Ferrari engine, and the two crap drivers they have with Gutierez and Sutil. Sauber is still a large step up and you never bet agai...

Re: FRIC suspension
Here's the real juicy part of this story that I read earlier. Charlie Whiting has said FRIC will be banned by the FIA before Hockenheim unless the teams vote unanimously to delay the ban until the 2015 season. Now, if I'm Sauber, Marussia, or Caterham, and the big 4 told me to take the budget cap th...

You have a strange sense of humor considering you have no idea what's going on behind the scenes at McLaren.Labelling Austria as a 'step in the right direction' was the funniest thing I've heard all year.

Being American, I would absolutely love to see an American team on the grid, but I'm fearing more and more that Gene Haas is just another American who doesn't understand how Formula 1 works. I just don't understand why he is insists on having his base in North Carolina. There are rumors that Ferrari...

Re: Williams - Last chance?
On the surface, it certainly looks like Williams has turned things around. I can't help but but believe a lot of this has to do with Claire Williams. I was very skeptical when she was appointed, but things have definitely not been "stagnant" under her watch. Williams wasted no time in dumping Mike C...

I know the McLaren set the 134 time with super softs, but the bigger story to me is the 135 time they set before the last run. What tyre compound was that set on? I can't seem to find anyone who knows. If it wasn't set on the super softs also, then that's the time that's really impressive to me.

I agree with Chaincase. What the heck is going on with that left rear tire? Did the car get so hot it start melting it? Red Bull has MAJOR! problems. I love it! I think it will be the coolest looking car on the track. Come on guys! Did you really think a livery designed for a car 40 years ago would actually fit or work on a modern day f1 machine? I don't know why so many of you continue to "live in the past" when it comes to liveries.

There's even more good news for Williams. I was reading on another website that McLaren is in a race to make the first test at Jerez. The car failed the FIA crash tests and they are behind. That may very well be the reason Martin Whitmarsh has been sacked.

For a new facility hosting it's first ever race, today was a smashing success! I haven't read of any negatives at all from fans or media that were there. It will only get better next year. The track will be more seasoned, and Pirelli will have baseline info to bring a wider range of tyre compounds. ...
