Re: 2020 Turkish Grand Prix Race Thread

What a race that was. Verstappen will feel he threw that away and it's difficult to argue with that. The strategy was spot on for Hamilton and you have to say he delivered a great drive. Perez did what Perez does and I also have to say it's no coincidence that in a tricky race, Vettel was at the sh...

Re: 2020 Turkish Grand Prix Race Thread

Vettel does look bittersweet on the podium. Wonder if he's somewhat saddened of Schumacher's main record being equalled. He knows he again did not manage to beat Leclerc on pace despite being very far ahead early in the race. And yet he dusted Charles yesterday in qualifying. Charles' extra updates...

And yet we've already had a 21 year old girl, with no underlying conditions, die in the UK after contracting the virus. I've also seen a guy in his 70s get the virus, he was unwell for 3 to 4 days and now he is fine, he never went to hospital. I'm of the opinion that it's the elderly and sick that ...

Vettel was clearly upset at being overtaken round the outside by first Hamilton then Leclerc, we have seen that he doesn't like to get passed in that way. Hamilton actually had the very same response to being passed by Verstappen and also ended up taking someone out. What is galling though is Vette...

It was no Monza squeeze. Seb was ahead, unlike Hamilton who was squeezed and kept behind. The problem was Seb turned in on Leclerc, taking the usual line which he shouldn't have as Leclerc was at his rear wheel. Out of three, not into four. even so, it was very different compared to the Monza squee...

Vettel didn't respect the pole. He should not have overtaken Leclerc and then none of this would have happened. i think the agreement was to give Vettel the tow so he could remain ahead of Hamilton and also Leclerc. If he didn't overtake Leclerc, Hamilton would get the tow and Vettel would lose p2 ...

Where did I say that? I said Vettel was about 0.2 quicker. I was merely refering to Leclercs attitude, once he was told plan C, he completely cooled down and was happy again. Where as before that he was agitated that Vettel was ahead. Plan C, likely meant Leclerc pits first and gets to undercut int...

That's interesting, it seems that if Vettel got a better start he might have been allowed to keep the lead. If you watch from the overhead shot both cars get an identical start and its all slipsteam that gets him by. I wondered why Vettel would sign up for any type of deal that basically ensured he...

So, apparently Leclerc dumped his now former girlfriend, Giadi Gianni, to dedicate his life, body and soul to Ferrari, as reported by the highly reputable and much venerated Daily Express, Sun, and Daily Star. imo, it's better to keep the girlfriend. I don't really get this whole idea of Leclerc 'letting' Vettel have a slipstream at the start. Ferrari needs to realize they can't orchestrate races in general, or team orders in specific. Let them race. Once taking the lead, Vettel posted at least 5 Fastest Laps prior to the pit stops. I couldn't really understand why Vettel would have agreed to this strategy anyway... he had effectively got himself in a good position to exploit the tow, so why would he agree? to guarantee himself p1 at the end of lap 1 and beyond. as for disobeying team orders, it's not surprising given his trac...

It's a race that clearly divides opinion. I'm on the fence. The race is clearly a great test of mental fortitude for drivers, and they all say it's the most demanding race of the season. 56 laps is better. And also, just make it a day race to make it even more challenging for the drivers. Since it's difficult to overtake, wearing them out under the heat in the day allows for more mistakes and possibly overtaking.

The chances of safety cars are always high during the pit window, especially at Singapore. First to pit is most likely to lose out to that. Solid race for Ferrari - questions about that Vettel undercut - but ultimately without it, I doubt they would have got a 1-2. Some real over-reactions to the Mercedes "team orders" here.
