I saw it and wondered 'why?' also.
He didn't look particularly comfortable at any point either.
Perhaps his management team MADE him do it

Re: Paul Di Resta worthy of a better car?
I don't share your appreciation for his talents, but I do believe that this year could be make or break for him.
IMO, if he wishes to impress the big boys, he needs to dismantle Sutil this season. I'm not sure he will.

Re: How did you become an F1/race fan?
It's sketchy, but as a young child, maybe 9 or 10, I seem to remember a GP (can't remember which) where Mansell was driving for Ferrari. I think he broke down and on his way back to the pits he was waving and threw his gloves into the crowd, who were clamouring for his attention. The passion of the ...

Re: Is a Driver's Nationality Important to You?
Overall, I'd say no, nationality is not a factor when I support a driver, but it does give me a predisposition to follow a driver in the first place. Typically I tend to follow British drivers at the start of their career, but only continue to support them if I like what I see. On the other hand, n...

Re: Vettel move to Ferrari blocked by Alonso?
After all his media bluster about Vettel only winning because he has the best car and that he was fighting Newey for the title, and the mutual love-in between himself and Hamilton, I'm surprised it's not Hammy who has been vetoed. Or perhaps he has. Perhaps he has a clause in his contract that says ...

They can learn about how quickly the DRS engages and how quickly the air flow re-attaches once the DRS is closed again. They can learn about how stable the car is with the DRS open and gather data on how other parts on the car are performing when DRS is open and closed. They can combine it with dat...

Re: Which Driver Deserves A Second Chance?
None of those really stand out as having anything 'special', or leave F1 with any sense of un-finished business. Schumacher certainly had nothing to prove and the others never really showed any 'World Class' pedigree. Koby was occassionally exciting but too inconsistent and the others listed had bee...

Re: MORE DOWNFORCE!!
I think it's fair to say that each and every driver on the grid is extremely intelligent and being able to communicate their views on how a car feels and how it should be set-up is fundamental to being at the pinnacle of the sport. It's easy to assume that the driver just gets in and drives as quick...

Re: Official 2013 winter testing thread
It is possible to make fairly accurate predictions from testing. However, to do this one has to completely ignore the timing screens and look at the facial expressions and body language of each team's drivers and other personnel. Good luck trying to figure out Di Resta's feelings.....................

Singapore '08.
Massa driving off with the fuel hose still attached. Funny in itself, but then seeing some overweight pitcrew members 'running' down the pitlane was the cherry on the cake.

Re: Lewis in his new gear (caption time, again)
I am sure that for Hamilton it is difficult to be at a team other than McLaren; he spent his whole life there, and even if he is convinced that he took the right decision, the first few weeks at Mercedes will be hard for him. I am not surprised that he is not exultant in these pics! But he will set...

Re: Lewis in his new gear (caption time, again)
Every recent pic I've seen of Lewis so far reminds me of the look of someone who has had a really crappy Christmas present but tries to feign a happy face in order to not cause offence.
Not a caption, I know, but his eyes give it away. He's made a mistake, and he knows it.

Re: Felipe Massa feels he can fight for the F1 title in 2013
I'd like to see Massa go well, if for no other reason than he seems like one of the good guys. Unfortunately, I don't think he has the mental fortitude. Yes, he can do it when the pressure is off, but when things get tough, he struggles. Alonso plays the mind games ruthlessly and has a huge self-cen...
