Re: 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread
The problem with Ferrari today was they lost pace during the race. On the soft they were slow. They were slower than Hamilton to be precise. Precise about what exactly you think they would have been faster than the Redbull if it was on the softs. Wouldn't matter if they Ferrari would have been slow...

Re: 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread
This is the second race this year to make me angry about Abu Dhabi all over again. Max still wouldn’t have had nearly the tyre disadvantage that Lewis had in Abu Dhabi and yet it is a VSC and Red Bull breathing a sigh of relief. If Lewis did win under a spectacle car, it would have been the tiniest...

Re: 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread
I would very interested to see Leclerc’s timing on hard vs medium and whether either stretching out the medium would have been a better option. In retrospect, if he had another set of mediums, he would have been better off on those and then do a short stint at the end on softs.

Re: 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread
Ferrari possibly had the fastest car today. However, they messed up the strategy because of continually looking in the rear view mirror. Too reactive. They need to act like a front running team with a top driver and let their driver earn his wages and give him the fastest strategy to win the race.

Re: 2018 British Grand Prix Race Thread
Hamilton didn't squeeze Kimi at all though. Kimi just had some understeer there. Hamilton left a full car's width. Yes he left a full car's width, and was 100% not at fault for what happened. But part of what makes Fernando Alonso great (and I am not really a fan of him) is how he seems to be able ...

Re: 2018 British Grand Prix Race Thread
I know that Kimi was wholly at fault for his incident with Hamilton, but sometime I wonder it drivers could be a bit more careful not to squeeze other drivers and make some allowances e.g. for cold tyres, a possible lockup etc. Similarly for the Grosjean / Sainz incident. If Sainz had left a bit mor...

Re: Vettel / Verstappen / Raikkonen Clash! Who to blame?
Without reading a single post on here the ONLY one to blame was Vettel. Raikkonen had the best start by far and was ahead of Verstappen and Verstappen gave him room to get by until Vettel pulled the ridiculous squeeze on both of them in an attempt to keep from losing the lead going into turn 1. It ...

Re: Vettel / Verstappen / Raikkonen Clash! Who to blame?
There appears to be an assumption that Vettel could have avoided the incident by being more cautious. In this specific incident, maybe given that Max had started to back out. However, in other races, there may well have been other cars behind him and being too cautious can actually be a bad idea as ...

Re: 12 Place Grid Drop if your team mate beats you in qualif
I like the idea for one reason. It means more pressure on drivers to beat their team mates, and makes qualifying even more important. At the moment, a second driver in a really good car can be happy to qualify just behind his team mate. This system would stop that and reduce the car advantage for th...

People keep saying that. But Vettel has delivered every time he had a car capable of winning the championship. *cough* 2009 *cough* Championship was sewn up early by Button. Ferrari's strategy only worked because they had a genuine pace advantage today. No, they really did not. Source: live timing throughout the race. The Merc was faster like for like. But that isn't the whole story. Of course, the Merc, on fresher tyres, is faster. But it chews through tyres too quick...

Alonso is superior to Vettel, that's not a secret. People keep saying that. But Vettel has delivered every time he had a car capable of winning the championship. Alonso hasn't, at least 3 times. Once when he had (rookie) Hamilton as a team mate, and for Vettel's first championship where he threw it...

Re: Riccardo down by 1 engine already...
I still don't really get how engine limits save much in the OVERALL cost scheme of things. If it costs X millions to develop an engine (and all the hybrid ancillaries) and you only 'make' Y number of engines. The real cost per engine is X divided by Y - yes? If you make 10 times the number of engin...

Yesterday's accident was a freak accident that could've happened on any other day. There is ALWAYS a risk of a repeat incident at a corner. Wet, dry or otherwise, it can happen at any race. I am reminded of Brazil in 2003, where Yoong (I think), then Pizzonia, Montoya, Schumacher and Button all went off in exactly the same place. Ricciardo once again drove great and he definitely deserves this win. I always thought that Red Bull were not going to play it safe. Better to get a concept that they believe is fundamentally fast, and then build on it, even if it takes them a while to get it under control, than go safe and not have any development room. That being said, it could well be that Mercedes...

It would be very ironic if, by virtue of a possible bad start to the season, Red Bull wound up winning either championship due to the double points awarded at the final race. Judging by what transpire in 2013, it is possible that Red Bull has a slow start, and winds up with the fastest car by the la...

Maybe they should introduce a penalty chicane at each circuit where feasible (i.e. all circuits apart from Monaco). The chicane would add approximately 6 seconds to a lap. A driver who has been punished would then be required to go through the chicane a number of times that would reflect the severit...

Monaco 2004. Although Trulli had his only win in that race, I really wanted to see what Michael could have done once the safety car came back in. Has to be Schumi's engine blowout in Japan. If that counts as something I can change so to speak. Massa 2008 is more complicated. If he wins Hamilton isn't WDC. So I would also want Hamilton to be the 2010 WDC (Vettel can have 3, I don't want to take Raikkonen). Third would be Schumi wins Monaco 20...
