Re: Hamilton's Sportsmanship (split from Bahrain 2021 Race Thread)

[quote="A.J. That's not true though - Hamilton wasn't forced off track, he just chose to cut the chicane and came out ahead of Raikkonen (instead of tucking behind him when he lost the corner). He then let Raikkonen by before immediately taking the position back under braking at the first corner. He...

Re: Official Sebastian Vettel thread

Vettel's defense makes sense if he had no idea what corner was coming up. That was the slowest corner and Ocon broke appropriately. Vettel had a case of alzheimer's or ADHD, I don't know but he came in way too hot.

Re: Official Sebastian Vettel thread

I think he's simply lost a step if you will. Obviously Leclerc isn't the fastest man on the planet like some may have thought the last couple of years, so the other explanation is Vettel's rapid decline. Some people lose it faster than others. In hindsight compared to ROS who we now know for sure is...

Re: 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix Race Thread

@ Hogweed Do you reckon Hamilton's utter mastery of F1 rules won him the race today? According to them, he successfully abused typical track limits which presumably gained him crucial seconds of lap time throughout the race distance. Verstappen, ignorant to the rules, was not taking advantage of th...

Ultimately it's the budget. I think Paddy Lowe would've given them a contender if they had the budget. Without a budget, what the hell could he have accomplished? Not even Adrian Newey could've built them a good car.

Re: Is Mercedes unbeatable?

I don't understand why teams don't copy their front wing. Racing Point was the only one to do it. You're not supposed to copy other teams by using photographs of their cars, but that's a ridiculous rule. If one team finds an aero advantage, no one else can ever copy them so of course they're guarant...

Re: How will Perez perform against Max?

Max is kind of a forceful driver while Perez is technical. Albon was smooth with the wheel, but erratic with the pedals and his car never seemed to have any speed on the straights unlike Max's. Probably a different setup of course. I think Perez's setup will be similar to Max's.

I read that they're keeping the 2020 cars for 2021? So no major rule changes until 2022? So if everyone has the same cars, will the results be pretty much the same? Lewis wins his 8th guaranteed. Imagine if Russell gets the Mercedes drive in 2022 but with the new regs Mercedes will be rubbish again ...

They're probably working out the sponsorship deals with Telmex, who may even become the new title sponsor! I've been to nascar races which are LOOOOOOUUUUD (even from the parking lot) but you can't even hear them on TV, so an F1 V10 must be unbearably screaming loud in person.

The video is the least disgusting of his antics on and off the track. It's disappointing that Haas confirmed him as a driver for 2021 knowing what he had already done in the past. Props to Mercedes for "sacking" him for testing even before this video came out.

I'd love to see Hamilton get into LeMans, GT, Rally, or even Indycars. I just can't fathom a talented race car driver not even be remotely interested in other types of racing. Even Schumacher drove LeMans. Lewis won't even participate in Race of Champions.

Can a female be as good as Lance Stroll? Probably. If Danica Patrick wanted to, she may have had the sponsorship to enter F1 and I doubt she'd be the worst driver on the track. There've been plenty of paid seat F1 drivers who I doubt could hold a candle to her. She won an Indycar race which is somet...

The last time Mercedes, Ferrari or Red Bull hired a driver that they neither had any kind of prior relationship with or was a world champion already was Nico Rosberg back in 2010. I don't care for the rules. That was a great move. That's racing. You can't pass cleanly on these long wheelbase cars unless your car is way way way faster.

Re: Improving Monaco? Just get rid of the seafront chicane!

The cars are too long. They're 1m longer than they were 15 years ago. This is due to the ban on refueling so cars must have large gas tanks. Refueling strategies was one of the most exciting parts of F1. While Monaco is usually a 1 stop race anyway, the gigantic size of the race cars made for diffic...

Congrats to the Finn. I hope he wins the WDC this year. It's almost a given that Merc will win again this year. Last year he was clearly put into a support role after proving to be as fast as Hammy the previous year. Poor McLaren. I'm happy for Honda. They proved it wasn't them.
