Re: The Official Carlos Sainz Jr. Thread

Did Maranello let the wrong driver go for 2025?? Carlos has beaten Charley in both races that he contested this year. Charles said today (Australian GP) that Carlos was faster all weekend. It will be interesting to watch the team mate battle at Team Red this year. Sainz always had periods where he ...

Re: So... who replaces Lewis at Mercedes?

Sainz just upped his claim on the best seat available for 2025 with today's win in Australia.

Not sure if that will be Merc, Aston Martin, or a long shot at RBR.

Would give an honorable mention to Max and possibly to Charles depending how bad his car was hurt in the turn 1 collision with Checo.

Hamilton with a cheeky fastest lap while Russell ran out of tyres, that makes up for the DQ last time out, same for Leclerc both on the podium, Norris driver of the day while Ricciardo just made a big statement. IIRC Lewis and George had about the same age of tires and both on mediums. Lewis made h...

Re: The illustrious five second penalty

I would wonder what the logistics would be of implementing a long lap section of track at all of the various F1 tracks around the world. I'm sure they'd be significant, and I also don't see the point. The drivethrough is a long lap already. Give it to people that break the rules. Big difference. A ...

Re: FIA clamping down on flexi-wings after Monza

I have to wonder if the FIA's clamp down on the flexi-wings had something to do with RBR's lack luster performance in Quali today??

Has the flexi-wing been responsible for a significant portion of their performance advantage over the last few seasons???

Sounded like Max's engineer being super clever trying to cover for Max stopping at the end of the pit lane. Ask the leading question whether there was a problem, cut off his potentially incriminating answer, then said everything seems okay *now* 🤫🙂

Re: The illustrious five second penalty

The 5 second penalty is a lazy man's long lap, which would be infinitely better if they introduced it This. Should be a long lap, served with 3 laps of the notice being issued And if they don't serve it, they are disqualified - no "taking the hit" option. If there are < 3 laps remaining, it's +5 se...

I disagree. Piastri is on the inside because that's where he started. He didn't go for a gap. He was never not in the gap. Sainz locked up trying to dive down the inside of Hamilton and then cut in hard allowing Piastri no space. The accident, if caused by anybody, was caused by Sainz. Going into t...

Looks like Mick Schumacher will be required to go to a backup chassis after hitting the wall after the checkered flag in FP1 at Suzuka.

Evidently one of the tires swung back upon impact and cracked the upper section of the chassis.

Is all over but the wailing and gnashing of teeth. Alex Palou spanked the field at Laguna Seca by more than 20 seconds at the end. Newgarden came second but that was not nearly enough to make up a 20+ point gap to Will Power. Some very good racing this year in Indycar and there was some decent racin...
