Re: 2021 calendar

I am sort of expecting that Australia and probably Canada will be canceled. US, Mexico, and Brazil might be late enough in the year to benefit from the vaccination campaigns.

I would really like to see Sepang replace Vietnam in the April time slot.

Re: How will Perez perform against Max?

I am going to predict that Checo will be a much stronger team mate to Max than Alex or Pierre ever were. I am not sure that Checo will beat Max on merit but he should be close enough to take full advantage of any missteps by Max.

Re: 2021 F1 Champion Prediction Thread

Hamilton if he is in the Merc seat (he will be) - Comfortable but not all his own way . Unless of course he gets ill, injured or father time suddenly catches him. I'd say almost like 2020. Almost Expect Red Bull to be a bit more of a thorn but it will surely be a bit of a dead rubber season in term...

Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread

Whether Hamilton will ever tell us how confident he was in signing for Mercedes remains to be seen, but it does seem to have been much lower-risk than Ricciardo's, or JV's or Emmo's. I'd regard Hamilton's decision to move to Mercedes as a lower risk version of Schumacher's move to Ferrari. Mercedes...

Re: Official Checo (Sergio) Perez Thread

We all believe (mostly) Bottas is as good as Perez. A good car too makes a difference as it showcases the qualities of a driver (Russell in Sakhir). I may be biased but expect 2021 to have a 4 way battle which includes Perez. Question remains is Perez allowed to fight for the win or just be good en...

Re: How will Perez perform against Max?

If Checo beats Max over the course of the season it will upset the F1 pecking order in a major way. If he actually beats Max -- which is to say, proves himself the superior driver, rather than somehow finishing ahead due to massively different reliability -- that will mean that everything we think ...

Re: How will Perez perform against Max?

I don't really know. Max had five retirements in 2020. Some were mechanical and some were driving mistakes. When he was running at the end he had one sixth place finish and the rest were podiums. I think it will be very hard for Checo to beat Max on anything like a consistent basis. I will guess tha...

If Lewis can get back to his pre-covid-19 form by March 21, I don't see anyone out there who will have much for him. Aside from his post-covid funk in Abu Dhabi I don't see him showing any significant signs of slipping. RBR's pairing of Max & Checo could be a potent combination and could cause the M...

I am hoping for another round of this battle next year. For me it's a toss up between George and Max. I think a lot depends on who has the better car for the new regs at the start of 2022. On the theory that RBR will make up most of the performance gap to Mercedes I will go with Max. I don't expect George to win a hotly contested championship battle in h...

I do like the new tradition of the number staying with the driver. Certainly in the US in Nascar one has only to see the #3 or #43 logos to evoke the drivers who made them memorable. I would rather the driver kept the number than the team though. #44 will be long remembered as the number of Lewis Ha...

I'm certain that neither Racing Point nor Mclaren will be that far down this afternoon.

BTW, did I see correctly that Jack Aitken recorded his 0.4s slower than Latifi lap on Hard tyres?

If so that's pretty impressive
Looks like Aitken on hard tires and Latifi on Mediums for their fastest laps.

I should imagine Lewis is hoping he won't beat Valtteri by much! Only if he beats both Valtteri and Max soundly. If Valtteri has another mediocre race, trouncing him won't mean much. Gapping the whole field would be very impressive and would get Lewis' attention. Still I think Lewis would welcome h...
