Re: Could Hamilton have won the race with this tactic?

To put it into perspective, it's got to be possible to walk a couple of laps of that track in 2 hours. For a formula one car to take 2 hours to get to the end of the pitlane, it would have to be stationary for much of that.

Re: Could Hamilton have won the race with this tactic?

If Bottas had somehow been able to get to that restart to start last on the grid, I guess he could in theory have taken a fair old chunk of time to pass the pit exit, 30 seconds or so say. It would have been sketchy but less so than Hamilton going at a snails pace for 2 hours. Edit:IDFD beat me to it.

Re: 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread

I'd actually say Alonso and Hamilton's battle at Mexico 2018 had more questionable moments than that one as great a spectacle as it was. These things are always more heated on team radio. Grosjean used to moan on the radio almost every time he got overtaken it seemed.

One swallow does not a summer make. Russell has dominated Latifi in pretty much every race they have had together. How impressive an achievement that is is up for debate, but yesterday was not evidence of Russell being on par with Latifi generally. The decision has likely already been made tbh. IIR...

Re: Where will Bottas be next year?

While Toto will be secretly very happy about the net result, that incident makes it less likely, not more likely that Bottas will stay at Mercedes. There has been some talk of Mick Schumacher going to Alfa Romeo. If he were to leave Haas (or whatever it may be called next season) then Bottas would b...

Hypothetical scenario here. If Bottas had somehow managed to keep his car running and started last on the restart, had he and Hamilton both not pitted, I take it the guys pitting would have had to wait for Bottas before leaving the pit lane. In this scenario, if Bottas had had a very slow getaway nu...

Has to be Bottas. The precision with which he managed to hit Norris to then hit Verstappen was the kind of shot that Ronnie O'Sullivan would tip his hat to. On a more serious note Ocon has to be a contender of course. Alonso, Hamilton, Verstappen, Vettel there are contenders all the way down in many...

A genuine GOAT contender of a race. It's a shame that Verstappen got his race ruined by that first lap incident and cha...

Grand Prix starts shouldn't look like a clever little trick shot on the pool table. Probably penalty points and a grid drop for Bottas. It has to be exceptionally dangerous driving for a race ban.

I think that rain will be short lived. What this may do though is 'clean ' the track and possibly move the race towards a no brainer 2 stop which will help neutralise Merc's mediums advantage.
