Re: Grid Girl ban - forum poll [MERGED]

Maybe in 10 or 20 years time, we will look back and wonder why we ever had grid girls and how disrespectful that was and how it sent a very mixed message to young girls about their value in society ? Is it disrespectful to a woman that she performs a job that she chose (very happily), via her own f...

Re: Grid Girl ban - forum poll [MERGED]

As a previous poster mentioned, I think some people seem to feel that any recognition that an individual is attractive is a blow against feminism, and I think that's far from the truth. The logical conclusion of that is that all modelling should be phased out, but I don't know why that should be th...

Re: Danica to retire after the Indy 500.

The world's most famous average driver. and you are famous for what? Nothing, what's your point? She is not famous for her driving talent. She's famous for some GoDaddy ads and having a bit of an attitude. I keep an eye on American motorsport coverage and this has been big news. If say, AJ Allmendi...

Re: Spa 2008 Revisited (Split from most wins thread)

Since we're talking 2008, Japan...

Hamilton penalised for Kovalainen forcing Räikkönen off track. Bourdais penalised for having Massa cut across him. There is a valid discussion to have about Spa with points for both sides but when viewed in context with these it feels a little dodgy.

Honestly, I'm kinda disappointed in him but I'm not a fan because of his personal affairs.

To be honest, I'd be shocked if every driver isn't doing something like this to a certain extent.

Re: Interesting article; future of motorsport

Just for the record I think for F1 the elephant in the room is aero, or more specifically wake, and has been for a long time. Engine power, softer tyres and DRS have masked it somewhat, but there has been times this season where sustantually faster cars can't stay within 2 seconds of another car fo...

Re: Interesting article; future of motorsport

People have a lot of hate for hybrid engines but I really quite like them. It's simple, ugly technology to just stick a big, loud V10 in something to make it go fast and please the yahoos who want "DA LOUD NOIZEZ". It actually takes engineering skill to develop something that produces the maximum am...

I dare say whining about someone else's driving when you ran into the back of someone feels a tad hypocritical.

Re: Forum opinion on Max / Kimi overtake

I don't really understand the accusations of inconsistency. Decisions regarding track limits are inconsistent because the incidents are inconsistent, there are a lot of variables at play and each incident is different from the last. If we're saying we penalise every time a driver leaves the track th...

Re: Your favourite Formula One seasons are...?

Of what I actually watched:

96 - Hill. At last.

08 - Last corner.

10 - Four contenders?!?!

Ones I didn't see:

76 - Lauda = Hero

89 - Angry teammates.

84 - Monaco. Senna. Bellof!

Hope I was as succinct as required!

Re: Rows of three&two cars on the starting grid - good or ba

Adding whacky stuff like this just to cause some accidents and mix up the order on the first lap is not how you improve the F1 "show".

Spending time and resources on developing a rule set less reliant on sensitive aerodynamics is.

Re: Forum opinion on Max / Kimi overtake

Lack of consistency by the stewards has been invoked, as the race contained numerous instances of drivers exceeding track limits. FIA race director Charlie Whiting addressed those claims and the Stewards' decision. "In all other cases where the drivers left the circuit, they went a longer distance....

100% illegal.

I get the frustration about enforcement of track limit rules but there is a big difference between running wide on exit and actually cutting a whole corner.

20-22.

For every Minardi or Onyx who pull the occasional shock result, you end with a Fondmental or Andrea Moda or Lola who have no right being on the grid. There needs to be a threshold.
