Re: Herbert and Di Resta droppped

I won't miss Herbert at all. It's years since I can recall him saying anything remotely insightful. I think losing Di Resta is a shame though because, even though he frequently mangled the English language, he was very smart, observant, and tended to commentate on what was happening on track - often...

Re: CONFIRMED: Mattia Binotto to be replaced by Fred Vasseur as Ferrari TP

I think Binotto did good enough over the last two years to keep his job for at least another year - they did finally beat Mercedes, even if they couldn't match RB. I cannot imagine who could come in and do a better job in the short term. I thought he was very personable with the media too, unlike th...

Re: Female Racing Drivers

Shame the series had ended early. Honestly though, I’ve found the racing the last two seasons pretty dull. The first year had much better and closer racing on the smaller & more Mickey Mouse tracks. Since they moved to bigger / F1 tracks, there’s been much less overtaking. I think the series needs f...

Re: Schumacher - another year or not?

Another lukewarm endorsement here for Mick to get another year. He carries a massive weight of expectation with his surname, but thus far he’s failed to set F1 alight and seems unlikely to reach a fraction of his uncle's achievements, never mind his father’s. He seems pleasant enough and I think jus...

Re: What can be done to eliminate porpoising

On the face of it, it sounds like a reasonable step to take for the FIA. The teams that have the issue are pushed into eliminating it, even at the expense of lap time. And those who designed a decent car to begin with that doesn’t have the issue don’t have to make any changes. I must be misunderstan...

Based on the results so far, and specifically from Albert Park, I'm pretty much convinced that the new regulations have been a success. The racing seems much improved. I found the last 6 years lack of competition so dull. It is so refreshing now to get halfway through a race and the lead car has not...

The first two races have been promising, but I’m reserving judgement until we’ve had the race at Albert Park. I think that will be a key test as, even with the minor track tweaks there, it should give a better insight into how raceable the new cars are. Have there ever been F1 cars that could race ...

So what's with all the comments about people having to ...

For me, it wasn't the ideal way to end the race & season, but I'm relatively happy with what happened. I think Masi's decisions were reasonable enough.

I'm very much looking forward to 2022 when hopefully we can have more than two drivers out of twenty that realistically contend for the WDC.

I was really looking forward to sprint qualifying but that just failed to do anything for me. My favourite part of the weekend is often quali, man against the clock, and all this served to do was to make those heroics meaningless. I’d be happy to never see this again.

Rob Smedley is to blame. He was Head of Vehicle Performance and only oversaw a constant demise in vehicle performance. The only reason Williams had a good result the year he joined is because he’d not had input into the car at that stage. His ruinous influence was only felt later.

I like the drivers changing helmet designs. Some designs work better than others but some have been very cool, one-offs.
