Re: Mercedes team dynamics
I think it's pretty clear that Hamilton is the #1 driver at Mercedes. Not undeserved because he's obviously better than Bottas, but he is the #1 driver. Hamilton is obviously the #1 driver. However, a sizable portion of his fan base have spent more than a decade decrying other drivers who...

Can you guys shed any light on why there is such a lack of moderation on the main PF1 site? There are certain posters on there whose sole intention is to inflame & continually bash certain drivers. The level of trolling on the site is quite alarming.

Re: Would Lewis win the world Championship in a Ferrari?
Strategic errors cost Hamilton wins in Australia and Austria (though Austria is uncertain due to the mechanical failure) and possibly China as well (should have stopped when Dan and Max stopped). There were also a few smaller strategic errors that were less costly that year. The better question wou...

Re: Do we need to re-visit 2017 and 2018 Ferraris?
In the 2018 Season The eccentric and chaotic management style of the red team in recent years is not something I see bringing out the best in Lewis - where as somebody with Alonso's temperment may just manage to be at his best.. ? Maybe i'm looking at things too simplistically, but things were pret...

Re: Would Lewis win the world Championship in a Ferrari?
I think that the combination of Lewis Hamilton and his strategist James Vowles could have made the Ferrari a WDC championship car at least once in the last few years. The combination of Lewis Hamilton and the ham-fisted crowd of misfits from Maranello.... well, not so much. You say that but Mercede...

Re: Vettel and his Ferrari drive
But not the previous 2 years so that differs from Vettel. Vettel had that in 2012. The Red Bull was no more the clear best car that year than the Mercedes was in 2017. I'd say that's fair but I'd say that, for Hamilton, you also have to include 2008. 2008 is something Vettel hasn't done, true -- wi...

I'd certainly categorize his mistake in Monaco as serious (picking up a penalty for his pitlane wheel-banging with Bottas.) It cost him a podium.KingVoid wrote:Hamilton has made two serious mistakes this year. Austria and Germany. Verstappen has only made one.

Re: What does Hamilton have to do to become an all time grea
Hamilton’s 2 terrible races was a response regarding this season’s performance. Anyway, let’s just compare 2017 and 2018. - Hamilton was clearly slower than Bottas at Russia 2017, Monaco 2017, China 2018, and Canada 2018. - Verstappen was slower than Ricciardo at Abu Dhabi 2017. I can’t think of an...

Reading comprehension is clearly not your forte - please go to the link and take some lessons. Might help. Except that the Autosport Awards have given the Mercedes F1 car as car of the year for the last 5 years. Hamilton driver of the year too. It's an impossible judgement to make but I think we all know that something like tyres not being quite up to temp can ruin a race from start to finish. The car i...

I think it's important to note that nearly all of Hamilton's WDC's have come in the turbo-hybrid era. In this era all you really have to do to win the WDC is beat the guy in the other Merc. How many of the current grid would beat Bottas in the same car? 40-70% of them? Are they All-Time Greats as w...

The fact that the guy comfortably in 3rd is getting matched by an often out qualified by a teenage rookie really shows the low quality of driving performances this season. If Sainz was driving a Racing Point and getting matched by Norris he'd be getting panned. Except of the top 2, virtua...

Hamilton’s failure to overtake Verstappen in Suzuka was a much bigger moment in 2016 than most people appreciate. If he made that move stick, Rosberg would’ve been under far more pressure in the final four races of the season, as there would be no margin for error. I don't see how it makes much dif...

Let’s be honest here, if races like Bahrain or China 2018 had happened in 2017 but the situations were reversed (Mercedes as Ferrari and Ferrari as Mercedes), there is no doubt that the usual suspects would argue the cars were equal, if not Ferrari supremacy. There were people arguing that Ferrari ...
