Re: The Official Carlos Sainz Jr. Thread

So, 2 races in , how do you feel Sainz is doing so far? I think he’s doing pretty well so far and probably a bit better than I expected so far, especially in relation to how others new to a team seem to be struggling more. Bahrain - looked to be on the pace of Leclerc for the whole weekend apart fr...

I don't know how anyone else feels, but early days or not, Norris and Sainz are both looking stronger than expected against their teammates. I think the likelihood that we've been underrating both halves of that partnership is increasing. I think that’s likely too. But is it possible we’ve ovverrat...

Re: Mercedes vs Red Bull - 2021

I actually believe that the current weather conditions are favouring Mercedes. In Bahrain, Marko said that Red Bull’s loss of performance advantage relative to Mercedes from Saturday to Sunday was partially because of the colder weather on Sunday. Imola was only 10-14 degrees temperature. Once we g...

Mercedes seem to have a mighty race car, I think they will leave Imola happy about the rest of the season. Leaving Bahrain there was question marks over the race pace and if Red Bull had a diff issue losing them pace. The Mercedes seemed quicker today, all baring Hamiltons tentative opening 1.5 lap...

I agree it was hard to read today, I’d call it even. Was also surprised to hear Wolff be so open about Merc having the fastest car today. Not normally his/Merc’s style. Didn’t see/hear what Horner say, but I wonder how much of Hamilton’s fastest lap advantage (about 0.7/8) was to do with the DRS/sli...

We've had this thread in the past and someone mentioned it after Bahrain, so thought I'd start it as a place to discuss the relative performance of what are currently the leading two cars. Good drive by Max, but he was so close to spinning before the restart. A few degrees more and he would have blown it!
When that happened, he was partly on the grass I think. Could Leclerc have legitimately passed him and kept the lead?

I'm guessing if it's a grid start then he won't be able to get that lap back so he's stuck in 9th.
