Probably a bit unlucky to find himself out of a seat after 2019 but Hulk has had a great career renaissance after spending three years out of the sport.

Poker I agree with your general point here but I’m not sure they’re the right results for Bahrain 2008? Hamilton finished out of the points.

Re: Anyone believe Ferrari signed Hamilton because Charles is a disappointment?

Leclerc has shown in '22 that he can be a serious title contender if the car is good enough. This is absolutely true. It seems that the more competitive the car the better Leclerc is. My initial reaction to this was that I agree as the evidence from his/Sainz partnership does tend to agree with thi...

Re: 2024 Chinese Grand Prix FP & Qualy/Sprint Thread

Looking forward to this weekend.

I think there was a bit of criticism from drivers about this being a sprint weekend with F1 not having raced here for five years. Hopefully everything is fine and we don't have another Qatar.

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?

I agree, but the trouble is we don’t know all the relevant parameters. We see leaders regularly saving tyres and engines when out in front. Also I think that Räikkönen really enjoyed driving fastest laps, so that itself could influence who collects them. I don't believe that engines and tyres neede...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?

The relevance of the fastest lap is completely debatable, there is literally nothing to be gained except some on track time if you are chasing another driver. Räikkönen recorded 10 fastest laps and Heidfeld 2 fastest laps, does it really mean anything? It does mean something, if you know all the re...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?

True, but Massa often achieved better finishing positions. My impression at the time was that the car's potential limited both drivers, but Räikkönen more so, before team attention switched to the driver who was leaving the team. Which is how the performance of the two drivers ebbed and flowed duri...

As you've already been told Kimi started the 2008 season strongly but then ran into bad luck and ended up having to support Massa, it was a role reversal of the season before, Kimi then had a very strong season in 2009 when the car was much worse, if Kimi took his foot off the gas then why the stro...

2016 held the record for most overtakes in an F1 race, but was beaten by Zandvoort last year. It still holds the record for most in a dry race I think. Re: Official Valtteri Bottas Thread

I think Bottas has a good start to the year - is it 4-0 now in qualifying against Zhou?

At times since the early stages of 2022 I’ve sensed he’s a little disinterested/unmotivated because of Sauber’s lack of competitiveness, but a strong season could mean that he gets a drive in the Audi team.

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?

It's a circular argument anyway. Bottas was closer to Hamilton than Perez is to Verstappen. We don't know if that's due to Bottas doing better than Perez or if it's to Verstappen doing better than Hamilton. I suppose it could be both. Personally I think Bottas skill set makes him more effective in ...

Re: F1 Gossip/Rumour/Inside news Thread

Joe Saward has said that Antonelli will make his F1 debut at this year's Italian GP, he turns 18 days before the race and it's his home GP which is somewhat convenient. He will take Sargeant's seat at Williams which I'm guessing might be the last we see of Sargeant in F1. This also perhaps explains...

Lets be honest... The answer is 2005. It's possible the best F1 race of all time. That aside a thoroughly enjoyed 2007. Absolutely loads happened and it was crucial for the title. 1994 would round out my top 3. A great battle (via the timing screen) between Hill and Schumacher for the win and possi...

The Japanese Grand Prix was a championship deciding race for many years before gradually moving slightly earlier in the season as the calendar has grown. This year though, it’s going to be in April.
