Re: The Official Carlos Sainz Jr. Thread

I’d be surprised if Sainz shows up as close to Leclerc, but I think he’ll do ok and is probably pretty solidly tier 2. But as Mikey says, it’s a bit of a guess at the moment. I hope he surprises us as I quite like him. The thing that frustrates me a bit is some talk of Norris as a possible future s...

Re: CarlPotter's Top Three Championship 2020

As with the other predictions competitions on this forum, we'll do private picks for the Abu Dhabi race for those in contention for either championship. Obviously there's still the Bahrain outer loop race first, which I'm rather intrigued about but worried it could be not very good.

A record of Vettel's* that Hamilton has an outside chance of breaking - biggest margin of winning the championship. Currently 155 points from 2013, Hamilton is on 131 ahead of Bottas and 143 ahead of Verstappen so has a chance of that if he wins the last two races. *Schumacher would have been 157 ah...

Re: 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix Race Thread

Mercedes apparently only changed three tyres at one of Bottas' stops. Curious. How did they manage that? Would that be penalty worthy? Edit: no, I don’t think it is. You can mix sets after qualifying providing they’re the same compound. Someone on Reddit saying the three tyres that were put on were...

Re: 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix Race Thread

As a Hamilton fan it's manna from heaven if Red Bull want to retain an underperforming driver. To be fair, we can't talk given Valterri was retained after his poor season in 2018. Hamilton is kinda protected at Mercedes. I don’t think Bottas’ 2018 was as bad as Albon’s 2020 though, and Bottas wasn’...

Re: 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix Race Thread

i still think that Bottas's bigest weakness is how bad luck effects his motivation and performance. When he knows penalties are coming like Abu Dhabi last year, he can be excellent, but when they are unexpected, he doesn't look to be very strong. Doesn't even seem to be catching ricciardo. Yeah tru...

Not great great from Kvyat that.
Why? He couldn't get any further to the left. Stroll turned in on him.
I thought he went up the corner and was off track when they hit each other. But maybe that was because Stroll didn’t leave him any space.

Thank goodness Grosjean seems to only have minor injuries. Incredible that he walked away from that, and a good job as he probably wouldn’t have survived if he couldn’t.

On a slightly different note, what was Kvyat doing back there? I thought he qualified in the top 10, grid penalty for something?

So is your argument here Bottas is a match for Hamilton? No. Point taken. From '09-'14 the highest he finished in the championship was 4th, Vettel and Alonso were consistently better without a shadow of doubt, its not even close. Ricciardo was in the TR and HRT.
