Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2019 Italian Grand Prix
I gave Russell a vote, because he was driving a turd. Some effort.

Re: Verstappen should have been given blue flag to let Ocon
If everything about this maneuver went down the same with one exception: At turn 2, Max instead maintains a wider, slower trajectory and drifts to the left curb to give Ocon space, then Ocon gets round turn 2 unscathed and accelerates round the long left handed turn 3 alongside Max, and then eventu...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
I voted Ricciardo, Ocon and Stoffel, with thumbs up for Leclerc and Verstappen. Care to elaborate why Ocon and Ricciardo? I really dont see it personally. Ocon had been decisively beaten by his teammate by the time he retired (Ocon was 9th on the grid, Perez - 14th). His drive was positively averag...

Re: Verstappen should have been given blue flag to let Ocon
If we are to have blue flags that let pace setters pass backmarkers safely, and not interfere with each other's race, then if the race leader becomes slower than the lapped car, surely then he must be also given a blue flag or a new type of flag and maybe a radio message to let the faster back mark...

Re: In my opinion Max very well may be the best driver
Verstappen can't even overtake someone without hitting them. He did it yet again on Sunday. Nope, Verstappen is an extremely immature driver (and person) who pushes beyond his ability too often. The guy hasn't completed a weekend in Monaco without putting it hard into a barrier. I might be wrong, bu...

Re: Verstappen should have been given blue flag to let Ocon
It was just unnecessary contact initiated by Verstappen refusing to concede and then slamming the door harshly on a driver who was waaaaaaaaaaaaay up the inside AND IN HIS FIELD OF VISION. And if Verstappen didn't see Ocon there then his spatial awareness needs to be brought into question just as w...

Re: When, and to where, will Ricciardo move? [A: 2019, Renau
I'm impressed that you guys think Ricciardo isn't only interested in the money.... but I'm not so sure it's so easy to dismiss. The guy is in his 8th season in F1 and while he wants to win for sure, and he would jump at the chance of a WDC winning car, at the moment there's no reason to believe one...

Re: When, and to where, will Ricciardo move? [A: 2019, Renau
Interesting report on the PF1 site: https://www.planetf1.com/news/horner-thought-ricciardo-was-joking-report/ According to Horner, Red Bull were under the impression Ricciardo was re-signing. They had agreed to a 1-year deal and probably a financial improvement. The Renault deal is rumoured to be 2...

Re: When, and to where, will Ricciardo move? [A: 2019, Renau
Impressed by this decision. One of the most difficult thing for a driver is to predict which car will be the championship winning car in the next year or two. Ricci is backing himself as a driver and a team member. Great stuff. What is interesting is the “he’s running away from a better teammate” na...

Re: Danny Ric a sniff of a chance for the World Championship
Verstappen clearly faster at the start of races, Ricciardo clearly faster at the end? I've never observed anything like that or ever heard anybody say that. What do you base that on? Because Ricciardo is actually there at the end far more often That is just the pattern of this season but has nothin...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2018 Monaco Grand Prix
Verstappen was driver of the day. No doubt. Ric didn't have any pressure from Vettel who was cruising to stay ahead of Ham. I suppose that is one interpretation. Here are some others: https://www.foxsports.com.au/motorsport/formula-one/f1-daniel-ricciardo-proves-he-is-the-real-deal-amid-praise-for-...

Re: Danny Ric a sniff of a chance for the World Championship
The entire point of F1 is to determine which driver/car combination has the fastest average speed over 21 Grand Prix. 1986 tells me you've slightly got that wrong, Gecko. I believe the entire point of F1 is to build the fastest reliable car that wins you the most points, whether split between indiv...

Re: Danny Ric a sniff of a chance for the World Championship
Can't see it happening, unless it was the last few races and it was only mathematically possible for one of them to win. It isn't in Red Bull's DNA. Apropos the "but VER is faster" line of argument. The entire point of F1 is to determine which driver/car combination has the fastest average speed ove...

Re: Who was at fault, Ricciardo or Verstappen? (Baku 2018)
Just one observation. With regard to the "Ricciardo left his braking too late". In the context of the accident, that means nothing more than he left his braking later than Max (to definitively say he left his braking too late, you would need to see him miss the corner; which we didn't for obvious re...

Well, this seems off message. https://www.express.co.uk/sport/f1-autosport/955101/F1-news-Max-Verstappen-Daniel-Ricciardo-Red-Bull-Helmut-Marko "We got Max because of his speed and his aggressiveness. Re: Who was at fault, Ricciardo or Verstappen? (Baku 2018)
Horner needs to manage his drivers, simple as that. Judging by what Ricciardo said, I think he's succeeding marvelously with at least one of them. The other doesn't need managing, he needs somebody who can explain the sporting code to him. Again and again. I am struggling to think of another driver...

Re: Who was at fault, Ricciardo or Verstappen? (Baku 2018)
One angle missing on all the discussion on this is; what about Horner/Newey/Marko? I was watching and just waiting for this to happen, and yet every decision they made only increased the likelihood of them coming together. Strategy, in-race communications. While the drivers need to reflect, Horner a...
