Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
The reason Newey is a reliable source is because he'll have ALL data over the season. Also when the season is over, why would he have any angle or point to make otherwise. My issue is with the many comments over the season, and especially since Sunday, that try to justify that Max deserved the title...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
Max beating Lewis with a weaker car and worse luck has certainly done wonders for Lewis’ legacy Fed up of hearing this dog fairy cakes about Lewis having the better car. There was a little quote most people missed in the after race interviews. “But I think on balance we’ve probably had the quicker ...

Re: Hamilton replacement
I reckon they'd go for Ocon, but if Alonso got a stiff of a proper chance in a Mercedes (or a Red Bull for that matter) he would break his Renault/Alpine contract without a seconds thought

Re: Who's been the better teammate in helping Max/Lewis to become WDC
Unsurprisingly Bottas was usually better than Perez in qualifying (not because he had the better car, Perez is close to useless getting the best out of a car over one lap). But for me, during races, Checo was stronger and had a bigger impact on the driver's championship over the course of the season

Never known an individual or team embarrass themselves so much over a racing incident before. Just sad for the sport really.

Had plenty of room to his outside to do the 'constant sweep' https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/f1/grandprix/great-britain/11430358/sainz-grosjean-crash/more/8 Interesting video. Not only was the Sainz/Grosjean crash classed as racing incident, a certain Max V...

Re: 2021 British Grand Prix Race Thread
Given the overhead frame which showed Hamilton more than one car width away from the apex when colliding with Verstappen and Leclerc right on the apex in the same shot it's actually hard for me to think that the collision was anything other than with intent. I have always held respect for Hamiton a...

Re: 2021 British Grand Prix Race Thread
If this was two midfield cars, you would all be saying racing incident. Max didn't give an inch, Lewis didn't either so was always going to end in an accident

Slightly off topic, but it will be interesting to see how many penalty points Sainz gets for his stupidity today. Not only did he endanger himself but all of the cars behind him too, while Hamilton gets 2 points and 10 secs for practice starts before the race has even started!

Re: Austria '20 Hamilton/Albon
It would be great to see Albon’s onboard footage which for whatever reason hasn’t been produced yet. It seems to me Albon had more room on his left to use which he didn’t. I think it’s a clear cut racing incident which considering the new mantra was meant to be ‘let them race’ I’m surprised that wa...

Re: 2018 Bahrain Grand Prix Race Thread
Attack on Vettel came too late. I’ve said it before but I think Mercedes are strategically vulnerable when the pressure is on. Governed entirely by timing screens and not what’s actually observable on track. The race was there to be won today and they dropped it. I've thought this for a couple of y...

Such a stupid piece of music. We're not watching Tom Cruise land a spaceship in the middle of New York. Please go away. Re: 2017 Downforce
One concern I have is there is going to be more fuel saving going on, even with the increased fuel allowance. The new compound & bigger tyres should allow the drivers to push harder for longer (although knowing Pirelli I'll believe it when I see it) but if the cars are at full throttle for longer wi...

Re: Mexico 2016: Hamilton off on Lap 1
There's been plenty of examples of this over the last 5-6 years (Rosberg in Russia a clear example) and no penalty has been given so why the big debate now. Everyone knows more leniency is given on the first lap especially the first corner. The fact that Rosberg and Max then collided makes it even l...

What if the driver is forced off the track by another driver (like Rosberg by Max in Mexico) surely that driver then gets penalised twice for someone else's error.

Re: Mexico 2016: Vettel vs Ricciardo
I think it was right on the edge of acceptable so would not have given the penalty. Although Vettel moved under braking he had a car in front to deal with and it was not a sudden lunge, like Max had done in other races, but quite gradual leaving a width of a car too. They both made it around the cor...

Re: There Appears to be Three Protagonists in the WDC race..
fairy cakes happens, look at today's race where a genuine effort to help Lewis onto the podium nearly cost Nico the race. They very nearly turned a 13 point gain into a 3 but they're not doing it deliberately or anything, it's just what can happen in motor racing. I've thought since 2014 they need ...

It's a shame because we could have ended up with some interesting pairings.

I'm a long time reader of this forum but have never signed up before. After watching the incident live I knew straight away there would a multi page thread on it.
