Re: [Lets discuss]Sprint race qualifying idea...
It's just my personal theory on why the qualifying format was initially changed. Last year I don't recall any major complaints. But I try to figure out why things happen. In my mind, having last year's loud and ugly noises by the lesser teams made both the big teams and Bernie uncomfortable. So they...

Re: Williams Strategy
Williams have the Mercedes engine and a chassis that is very good on certain tracks. They have a good mix of experienced and young drivers, but their race operations have huge gaps. Not only is this team the weakest of the top 5 in strategic calls, but they have been known to fluff up pit stops. Alt...

Re: The Official Haas F1 Thread
The last time Formula One allowed three teams into the sport, two crashed and burned, and the last one is still languishing at the back. So this time, Hass took advantage of "loopholes" and used a lot of parts and expertise supplied by Ferrari. And they have been off to a better start and better res...

Re: Technical question about wings
In racing, everything is driven towards maximizing the tire contact patch and giving it as much traction as possible. Aerodynamic devices add downforce with little added mass. So logically, more downforce = more grip. And the early attempts dealt with it directly, vector the downforce directly to th...

Here we go again, attempting to put on a band aid while we should try to fix the disease. Qualifying sucks, fix it. Make it exciting again. I agree. So what would you like to see for Qualifying to make it exciting? Just go back to the previous iteration that had little complaints from the fans. IMO...

Re: Bottas Hamilton Accident - Who was at fault?
Racing 101: If a car defends the inside and thus is on the inside line going into the corner, that car cannot be as fast at the apex because a car taking the correct racing line and approaching from the outside-in will carry more speed into that same corner. Yes, Rosberg was going slower than Hamilt...

Re: [Lets discuss]Sprint race qualifying idea...
There should only be one race, the Grand Prix. Everything during the weekend should support and build up to the one climax when the red lights go out. Grand Prix, one race, one prestigious race, not diluted by any others. And if Formula One stages two races on each race weekend, then which one is th...

Re: Official 2016 Bahrain GP Race Thread
Once the cars got rolling we had three cars lined up on the inside, Rosberg, Hamilton, Bottas. Rosberg defended the inside line, and thus would not be going through that first corner as fast as someone using the entire corner. Hamilton swung to his left in the hope of using more of the corner, getti...

“ Being a racing driver means you are racing with other people and if you no longer go for a gap that exists you are no longer a racing driver because we are competing .” Immediately after the lights went out, we had the scenario where there were three cars in line, all to the right side of the trac...

Re: Where is Blinky McSquinty?
Wow guys, I'm touched (No, not down there, and yes, in a good way) at your concern and that I am remembered. I'm doing fine, and the reason I faded out for awhile was because I had to take a step back for a little while. Although if you knew my life history (construction worker, ex-military where op...
