Re: Is Sebastian Vettel a Top-Ten All-Time Great?

Had this question been asked at the end of Vettel's consecutive run of WDC's the answer would have been different.

Appears that Vettel could master the double diffuser cars and the competition could not.

Seems that the recurring 'argument' in this discussion is the application of White privilege in the racing world.

Schumacher and Hamilton are both the best of their competition eras.

Haven’t they tried banning radio and it didn’t work well? Rosberg got a penalty because they told him what to do to avoid a failure which just seemed daft at Silverstone if I remember correctly. Perhaps they could give it another go, but this time give it more thought beforehand. When there is no r...

Re: Anyone have any radical ideas to fix F1?

Eliminate the Fuel Flow restrictions - they don't permit enough fuel flow to even get the engines to their maximum RPM limit. Rules limit RPM to 15K and fuel flow restrictions are holding them to about 12K. There is already a maximum amount of fuel permitted - that is enough. The engine life require...

Ground effects. Skirts were banned in F1 back in 1982 because of safety fears. The cars and circuits have evolved since to the point where, surely, this should be considered again. Voila - dirty air effect mitigated. Or magnified! Dirty air that won't permit airfoils to create proper downforce will...

I think as long as we have cars producing dirty air behind them, then it is almost necessary. We even see cars with the use of DRS struggling to match the speed of the car in front sometimes. So I will probably say keep it, but only because there is a fundamental problem with these cars And no matt...

Re: Rules and Penalties

Track limits CANNOT be a painted line.

Exceeding track limits must be self policing - a broken wing, a damaged floor, a spin through the grass, impacting a barrier.

If nothing gets broken or damaged and time is gained by the driver - it is not a track limit.

Re: Indycar - COTA (Anyone else giving it a watch?)

Indeed but when F1 is judged to be boring because of the lack of overtaking that's mainly a product of the cars being so much faster than Indycars, Indycars being 14 seconds slower than F1 cars is probably mainly because of the crude aero which conversely allows the car to follow more closer and al...

I too think the fast lap point has been a success, and I'm not sure I would mind even taking it a step forward, like get an extra point for: - pole position - highest top speed - most overtakes - fastest pit stop etc. etc. Since F1 is supposedly a Team activity - shortest cumulative pit time for TE...

Races for paying spectators is a show! F1 in comparison to IndyCar is not putting on much of a show on track.
