Where to find applied circuits info

There are plenty of websites where you can find raw data about circuits: a map, length, etc. However, I haven't found a website that explains how those data affect the racing and why. For instance, a website that explains why Monza is best for Ferrari (power) or Monaco is best for Red Bull (chassis)...

Re: The official YOU'RE WRONG BECAUSE I SAY SO thread

Our first guest in the thread is a guy by the name Spoutnik from racefans.net who laughs at the idea that F1 teams might fix races now and then. In his own words "That you genuinely think teams could fix a race is really worrying". Hope he has a good time explaining to everybody how that is ridiculo...

The official YOU'RE WRONG BECAUSE I SAY SO thread

We've all been there. You know every single thing there is to know about Formula 1, and then some. You know exactly who's the best driver and team in history, in the past year, in this year, and also who will be the best next year. You have the perfect solution to every single problem in Formula 1, ...

Current Honda vs. previous Mercedes PU

The current Mercedes PU is obviously very far ahead of the Honda. However, this is F1, even the weakest teams make great progress all the time. With three years of Honda development, I guess that the current Honda unit must be stronger now than the Mercedes was at some point in the past three (or fo...

Re: Driver records which can be broken this season

I was interested in having an interesting debate among people with different opinions who respect each other's views. As it turns out, some of the participants in this thread prefer to resort to mocking and insulting (daft, upstart, would have peed his pants...) instead of using rational arguments. ...

...But if we sent one of today's drivers, say Pérez, back to the 50s, and he participated in one of those races, he would be lapping the field, Ascari and Fangio included, by lap 5. This highlights perfectly what I don't understand about these comparisons. Of course if you transplant a current driv...

they didn't want to get fit because there was just no real need to. Certainly. Getting fit would have made them far more competitive, but was there a real need of being competitive? No, they just didn't need to. If they were racing in later years and wanted to be competitive they would have had to be fit enough to take the demands of the quicker cars. That wasn't a problem in their day as shown. Exactly. They didn't need to be sportsmen at all. The competition was so weak that...

It looks to me like the best solution for McLaren is to get a Renault engine. Renault is the only works team who is happy to provide engines to a team that performs better than themselves (Red Bull). From a financial point of view, I'm sure it's better to pay for an engine that powers wins (as the R...

Sainz really is the forgotten man here. All the midfield credit is going to Alonso but Sainz pulled a blinder with his strategy call and finished the race in the highest position possible for that car. He has also, once again, demolished his teammate. Sainz is one to watch for the future and I thin...

Max's antics that amuse today and are protected for drama value will become a liability in a title chase. I wouldn't call them antics. He's pushing the limits and sometimes going beyond them, like Ham often did in his first years (or maybe a little bit more). That's how you learn where the limits a...

Worst (best) case scenario: [Mercedes] build an average chassis in 2017. No biggie, their PU advantage is still big enough to make up for that, so they still win both championships. In 2018 their engine advantage is reduced further, but it's still there, and by then they already have a good chassis...

The system of grid penalties seems to be flawed, but, interestingly, only Mercedes seem to have been smart enough to take advantage of it so far. I've read so many negative comments about Bernie's new qualification ideas. I know it would make things more complicated, but that's wha...
