Re: One Stop or Two?

Well you got to take into consideration that Mercedes will be the team out in front and would they be willing to let there drivers mix up strategies a little. Hamilton wants two stop races because he knows the first Mercedes generally wins after the 1st corner but with more stops and if Mercedes act...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: 70th Anniversary GP 2020

Bottas over Hamilton - This was extremely close and can see it being that way with the votes too. Bottas edged him in qualifying and hamilton may have had more speed - but there was very little in it. The speed made his tyres suffer so he dropped back in both the 1st and 2nd stint. Both times it lo...

Bottas wasn't winning yesterday any strategy he was using. His been making some wierd comments this season after every race he has finished behind Hamilton.

Re: 2020 70th Anniversary Grand Prix Race Thread

Hamiltons tyres blistered worse in the first stint because for the first 5 or more laps he went for it and was within DRS for a couple of laps, that blistered his tyres which Hamilton or Mercedes knew would happen quite so bad. Bottas did get gain alot of time at both pitstops by pitting first and o...

Re: 2020 70th Anniversary Grand Prix Race Thread

Mercedes have a lot of buffer to work with in qualifying which they can use to improve their race pace. There's no need to be qualifying nearly a second ahead of the competition. The forced equality which Mercedes operates under sometimes costs them in situations like this. I have to assume there a...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2020 70th Anniversary Grand Prix

I thought Bottas pit because that was the strategy, Hamilton is the second car so can do a different strategy to the first car and he stayed out longer which most people thought would happen before the race. Hamilton did well in the second stint and earned his 2nd place

I would be astonished if Hamilton overtakes on track, I would just sit out the dirty air and save your tyres to go longer as that's the only strategy.

The temperature tomorrow might make it a bit more difficult for Hamilton to stay in Bottas’ DRS zone as much as you’d usually expect.
Hamiltons only option is to go longer in the first stint, I dont think he will overtake on track so his better off staying back and saving tyres.

Re: 2020 70th Anniversary Grand Prix Race Thread

Hamilton and Bottas will have the same strategy, it will be M-H-H. Bottas didnt get into Hamiltons DRS once last week and to even make a challenge for position you need to be so much faster than the car in front. Typical of me to be the one to mention this. I know anyone can say that he was virtual...

Re: Murray Walker Puts Neck out there: HAM v SCH v SEN

I personally put Schumacher ahead of Hamilton and Senna too. There is one caveat though and that's that Hamilton has arguably raced for most of his career in an era of racing that doesn't ideally suit his style. Toddling around five seconds off quali pace on cheese tyres in 2011-2013 on and off was...

Re: 2020 British Grand Prix Race Thread

A nod towards Valtteri Bottas. Kept Hamilton honest pretty much through the duration of the race and only started to drop off towards the end, as that tyre started to give up. To have it go at turn 1 of all places is just the worst. He certainly seemed to go for it, win or bust. Just a couple of it...

If they were a series of punctures why did so many cars complain of vibration, Bottas, Sainz, Norris? I know Bottas was complaining before Kimi's wing broke. Re: 2020 British Grand Prix Race Thread

Hamilton could have pitted at the start of the final lap as following Max's pitstop he had a very safe gap. The fact Mercedes elected not to do this meant they were not expecting a tyre failure on his car. I would therefore categorise his tyre failure as being more unlucky than 'luck' that it happe...

Every time Hamilton has bad luck, it so rarely seems to actually end up effecting him. In that sence, he is very lucky indeed. Same would have happened last weekend if Hamilton was in front, Bottas needs pole because it's so hard to overtake and you get number 1 on strategy.
