At this point it's abundantly clear how the season is going to go, so sit back and enjoy the ride of 3rd place onwards with gifts from Perez littered in.

To me, a one-off solid debut performance in a very strong car doesn't immediately warrant a full-time F1 drive. Obviously, it doesn't hurt him.

So yeh - Max is going to comfortably win more than 50% of races this season and we'll have to get our fix from what should be sustained tight competition from places 2-10 or so.

Re: 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix Race Thread
So, are we all looking forward to Verstappen winning ~15 races this year? The field is very competitive though and I'm looking forward to tight racing in the opener. Battle for best of the rest should make for great viewing this season and might involve as many as 4 teams (well 5 if we include the P...

The most interesting aspect of this season will probably be if Perez can finish P2 in a dominant enough car (again).
He's looking out of his depth and needs that car dominance at the top end.

Kimi Antonelli hasn't raced in F2 yet, so for those who have been paying attention to him over the last couple of years, what makes him stand out? He seems to be the most vaunted prospect since Maximus. What are his X factors?

Verstappen is an incredible force and that goes a long way in piling the pressure on Perez and making him look bad. But that said, Perez has just been bad, straight up. He is doing next to no justice to his machinery and the fact that Hamilton isn't a million miles away from P2 in the championship r...

Perhaps you can add the quote of Verstappen in 2019? It looks like you've got something you can share. So we are not even aware of such things when looking to pull apart Hamilton. https://consent.yahoo.com/v2/collectConsent?sessionId=3_cc-session_24f55033-a8f4-4967-aca7-1474fa846b99 “Over the years...

Re: Will Red Bull still be dominant in 2024?
Yup. A lot of the general sentiment about the budget cap has turned out to be extremely misguided. Now the teams who could at least try to overspend to catch up can't brute force their way back if they start off far behind. With the first season setting team trajectories and establishing a likely or...

Another critical component is the context of competition, of course. Perez got slapped down. He couldn't have asked for a much better opportunity to claim another win and actually be ahead of Verstappen on wins 3-2, 5 races into the season.
I agree with Horner. Max's pace on worn hard tyres was race-winning (barring no calamities before this race ends).

Maybe edge Hamilton but Russell has shown me enough to convince me he can be a big player in this game, and I expect him to push on from here. Hamilton will probably always be good enough to make it difficult though, even though you'd expect him to wane and Russell to rise in the long run.
