Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

And your own posting history shows you've started watching in 2015 - not hard to understand why you'd think that. Nothing wrong with having an opinion, of course. In the Hamilton vs. Schumacher debate, I think there is a case to be made for either. Both exceptional drivers. But It often depends upo...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

The view of most pundits and experts in the mediathat I've come across seems to suggest Hamilton is probably top-5, including former F1 drivers. Whether they count as "hardcore fans", I don't know. I'd suggest you're in a (large) minority of experts who have Hamilton outside the top-5, mikey. It wo...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

I find the assertion dubious, personally. I think I would have Hamilton in my top five now, and I'm neither English nor a Hamilton fan. I would agree that most people don't have him as #1, but that's not the claim at issue. Yep, i'm not English either and i have him in my top 5. For me, he's ahead ...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

To me Schumacher appears clearly more dominant and has a longer 'peak period' but also had a better platform to look as such against his competitors, who I believe were weaker than Hamilton's such that he had an unchallenged path and claim to being kingpin and thus the most coveted driver, whereas t...

Re: Silly Season 2021

The most recent reports, including directly from the mouth of Toto, suggest a relaxed enough atmosphere at Mercedes, though the negotiations are tricky.

I don't really sense much of anything to indicate that Hamilton won't be driving for Mercedes this year.

What say you, overgeared?

I'd add that many of those same people, also felt that Vettel was a little bit overrated at the time, as the success in his early career flattered him a little. I still think with the right car he would beat most on the grid, but I have also been fairly confident that there were 2-3, and since Dani...

The weird one to me is that Louise doesn't really look like Lewis. Biggest relative downgrade is Carlita Sainz who, as a handsome man, turns into a dubious lady.

Some of these were hard to instantly recognise.

Ultimately though, I'll take Fat Schumi (check avatar).

In recent times the big reg changes 2014, 2009, 2005, 1998 and 1994 have given us much closer fields. 2009 being the closest field ever, 2005 ended the Ferrari dominance and 98 and 94 both ending Williams dominance.
